Which Diver? Normal or Forged Carbon

Hi

i'm about to buy my first AP watch. I really like the diver.. but can't decide between the regular or the FC one. Any opinions?

Thanks

I've tried both of them on my wrist.

FC looks smaller.
SS wears larger.

SS is more impressive to look at because of the shine.
FC is a bit more toy-like.

FC pattern is really cool to look at.

FC ceramic will be scratch resistant.
SS bezel will be a scratch magnet.

SS more noticeable.. Especially if you want your watch to catch people's attention in dark conditions, eg.. in clubs..

Forged carbon. Light, easy to wear, scratch resistant and so much less common than stainless steel.

For catching attention, neither really plays a part (unless you are there trying to catch the looks of other male WISes)...arguably a Daytona or even 15400 would have more shimmer at the club, although game and attire trumps any watch in those situations but that's a different topic.

I'd say FC in this case, or better yet, wait for the ceramic. I can't say I've liked the SS or FC diver, but the ceramic one I really liked.

I think the only real solution here is to get both watches.

if I wore ss n a cf, bezel of SS will be more noticeable among the 2. That's what I was trying to compare. :)

I haven't seen the FC live, but I have an SS incoming, so I'll say SS!

Id depends what else you have...to wear everyday for all occasions I got the SS.

If it is part of a larger collection then I would probably go for the FC for its novelty factor.

I prefer the SS version over the FC. Very versatile.
I'm yet to see the Ceramic, but will probably have to wait until my next NYC trip at the beginning of the year.

I love the black mega tapisserie dial and the AP dial printing on the Diver so as the SS contrasts with the black and so brings this out the best I would always favour the SS.

For a first AP I would go SS diver (or ROO Panda). Very versitile watches that can be dressed up or down and have the classic ROO look.

As part of a larger AP collection I would go with the FC diver. Its more sporty, more scratch resistant and more unique.

I also have a same situation when picked up my first AP diver. it's quite a headache but finally I end up with SS, beautiful and attractive piece and suit for all kind of activities. But until now I'm not stop thinking about FC so I will pick it up sometime end of this year.
Ceramic is fantastic piece but FC worth every penny. Both pieces are out of comment. Good luck.

SS for me. The steel works better with the black than black on black IMO.

FC is one sexy AP, I had SS Diver and sold it due to bezel being scratch magnet. Picked up FC and love it!!

Any picture? How do you feel the Ceramic bezel and FC case? Is it stronger than SS?

^^I traded my SS diver towards the FC for the same reason.

The SS diver was my first AP so I only wore it on weekends as part of the rotation. I really started liking the watch and the AP brand but the bezel and case picked up scratches pretty easily. I picked up a few other APs but I liked the diver the most for daily wear. I then decided to trade it for the FC diver. I've worn the FC diver daily for the last few months for all my normal activities (golf, working on the cars/house, playing with the dogs, drunk nights at the bar with the boys, etc) Its been bumped pretty good a few times but still looks good as new. The ceramic bezel is WAY better than the SS one and I've looked hard to see scratches on the FC case but I have not found any. I wore a DSSD as my daily beater prior to the FC Diver and the FC diver is holding up better at this point. Another added bonus is that the light weight makes it SOOO comfortable to wear.

I still would lean towards the SS diver for a first AP since its more versatile in looks/color but the FC really checks all the other boxes for me as the perfect sports watch.

I'd say SS if the only watch. FC as part of a collection.

Also consider that you have the (very nice) option to add a bracelet with the SS.

SS diver is much heavier too right?
I don't really like all that weight on a sports watch. Felt much heavier than my Rolexes although it might be just my perception.

FC diver is my choice! Have seen too many steel divers around its getting boring and predictable. The FC would be more interesting and not as common you will enjoy it for certain.
