I wouldn't take it to Rolliworks. They'll charge you a lot to service a fairly simple movement. That's just me though since I'm cheap.

I will at some time in the near future be sending my bracelet there to worked on. I just got word that my watch has been completed! I my opinion it turned out amazing!
I know some will have negative feelings about the switching of parts but I love it. I have kept all the parts that were on it when I received it. Here is a a before and after service, light polish and new dial. The hands due look “older” aka patina more than the dial but I like the look. I will post a wrist picture when I get the band on it.
Thanks to the few who had great recommendations on my mini project!!

I like what you’ve done.

I received my father’s 1979 DD this past year. It had an aftermarket crystal, bezel and dial, as well as, beat up Rolex parts, including bent bracelet links. I knew I wanted to bring it back to 100% genuine parts, and had to make dozens of decisions a long the way. I decided not to source period correct parts. I can do that at anytime in the future. For now, I was 100% satisfied with letting RSC use new authentic Rolex parts.

Question: why didn’t you have them polish the hands?

Those are some of the same decisions I had to make as well. I’m more than pleased with how it turned out! I wanted to keep the hands with some patina and how there were when I got the watch. I think it adds a cool different look that you don’t always see.

Nice! The other thing motivating me was the desire to get in a full RSC service. There’s a lot of speculation on when RSC will no longer have parts for the older watches. So, I want to use RSC for servicing as long ad I can.

I thought about that as well but wanted to keep all my original parts. All the parts I used were nos. I needed a new crown and tube. Dial is genuine but not period correct.
My next search will be a 1979 of some sort as it’s my birth year. I have 2 boys and plan to hand them each one when they get older.
