I think Rolex is trying to prevent breaking the Internet anymore than it already has.

I don't think Rolex does fancy versions of its entry level pieces.

Why no pink dialled Daytona? Why no purple coloured explorer?

I'm really just arguing for the sake of arguing, therefore not really arguing, but rather offering a counterpoint. The LN Sub is $7500 and the LN Sub Date is $8550. Both pretty baseline-ish models. Why then does the addition of a $1000 date wheel and cyclops magnifier qualify the Sub Date to become transformed into a WG Smurf?
Further a smooth bezel DJ41 is about $7400, but a fluted bezel and rose gold jubliee and you're $13,200. True neither of those are a DD40 and the DD40 isn't offered in steel. I'm just suggesting that the base Sub could still be a candidate for other options. |

Sorry, only Rolex can answer these questions. But lots of other folks around here have some opinions they'll be happy to share.

For sure, but I thought this would be a nice change from the "I can't get," "what's it worth," no inventory, yakky yak. Sure, everything in this thread is nothing more than opinions and conjecture.

You heard it folks! The Seadweller, Deepsea, GMT...none of them can be used as tools anymore because they have dates! Completely excluded! Oy. Can't believe their are people out their who are getting so hung up about others calling their "sub dates" subs, or the "sub" as a no date sub. They are the same damn watch in almost all regards practically speaking.
And OP, I agree a WG ND sub would be cool, but it does make sense that the more "luxurious" version with the date is the gold version. |

The ND is the budget model. You don't make PM versions of budget products.
That said, I'd personally love it if there were other variations of the ND. It would distinguish the sub further from the GMT, and frankly I prefer the dial symmetry. I just don't prefer it more than fancy colours and shiny metals. |
