Hey I have a plan , if you don’t want to discuss dollars or the market or brexit or resale - whenever you see anything on this forum that contains whatever is soo offensive to you - don’t read it ! Ha ! You can even start your own threads that only talk about whatever makes you happy or even start a criticism thread of your own to share how offfended you are by our discussions. Just a thought. :-)

I agree. If I am asking about what Patek or VC to buy I do not give a f..k about value retention. However, a thread like this is very informative and interesting. I have learned a lot about the watch market and that is a good thing.

Wow, sub 60k soon I am sure.

Just saw a 5980/1A I have been eyeing forever post for sub $90k as well (albeit white dial). I would expect 5980/1A to hold value better given it has been discontinued but these were just 105-110k not too long ago.

Checking chrono, there are a number of 5711 1/A in very good condition at around $65k:
https://www.chrono24.com/search/inde...ue&sortorder=1

Dealers are probably buying at under $50k now if not lower.

As for the white dial, prices are also around $65k (although there are a few on the sales forum here for $55l that are not selling):

Brilliant idea. There should be a special Forum for volatile subjects where scorching insults are required for participation. Must be over 18 to join.

Wow, you really don't look very hard. Scratch the surface and there is a wealth of knowledge which goes far beyond the superficial nature of most forums.

With your Patek and RM collection you would fit right in. Just don't say anything negative about Journe.

I hear you but I don't mind looking at the pics... and it is a happier place than r-l-x.de where people tend to be stiff and unable to laugh about themselves.

My friend has been looking quite a while I just finally picked up a private sale 5980/1R for $128k. Seems dealers are still fighting to hold the 140k level.

Thanks for being so candid. And congratulations.
I'm waiting for one from my AD.

It's a watch I really didn't like when I first saw it and was rude (in my very first post on this forum) to someone here that had one about how showy it was, for which I feel very sheepish now...

Still don't quite know why I passed on a 5711/1r and have ordered this instead as I still think the 5711 is prettier. Go figure.

Anyway. Congratulations again.

Meant to say "He" picked one up, not me. Regardless, I think it's a big plus for people to help with pricing transparency, especially in a softening market like we are seeing now.

have one, had the other and you are right, the 5711R is so much nicer. but currently for me the absolute top nautilus is the 5980AR.

Yeah, they actually were sitting around. Obviously not last year or the year before that, but look back several years. There was even a time when they dismissed as "not a real Patek" by some enthusiasts (and even ADs). They weren't always scorching hot in the market place as they are now, not by a long shot.

I really don’t know what you are talking about. I bought mine in 2015, and it took over 100 calls and a several month wait to find anyone who would even consider selling me one. Since 2011 I have seen one nautilus in a store, white dial and not on display but in the safe. Not the same as it is now obviously, but sitting on display begging people to buy them. Nope. Now 5726, 5712 - absolutely easier to get and on display. But not the 5711 blue dial.

And I have been on this forum for some time and I have never seen someone refer to a nautilus as not a real Patek. The “old days” were never as good as people think they were.

I wanted to buy a 5711 in ~2014 and was told I’d need to put down a hefty deposit and wait at least 2 years.

Hello everyone, I have a question.
How much 5711-1p used will cost right now?

Some ADs were in that situation. And some countries (the UK) were, as well.

But in general, I've seen SS Nautiluses sitting around back in the day (2014, 2015, even 2016).
