Agreed ,the black bezel is the one to buy save $$$$ and you can get after market bezels in any color combination you want or just get the pepsi coke bezels and enjoy.

I’ve heard bits and pieces but I’m looking for a summary of the wearing experience in comparison to my Jubilee BLRO. I like the Bezel flexibility etc.

Appreciate any thoughts from owners.

Here’s my 16700 purchased new back in 1996 on a trip to Hong Kong! Luckily my wife saved all the papers. Amazing watch and patina developed over the years...

Looks like they gave you a Datejust booklet instead of the GMT-Master booklet. Hopefully they gave you the right paperwork

Bought a faded 16710 Coke bezel F serial last month. Currently at Dallas RSC. Getting a Pepsi bezel, bracelet refurbish & full service done. I can't wait to get it back. It will be basically brand smacking new. Should be another 3 weeks.

My advice to anyone who's in the market for a 16710 or 16700 or 16750 or 16760: Buy the cheapest one you can find. Doesn't matter the bezel color or condition. If you're like me and want it looking new, send it to the Dallas SC. They will put whatever color bezel you want and get the watch serviced. I called NYC RSC and they told me they wouldn't put a Pepsi bezel on mine. Dallas said no worries.

And one more thing: Prices will come down when you can walk into any AD and purchase the new ceramic GMTs at list price and they are readily available in whichever bezel color you want. Until then, prices will be inflated.

4 months gone, wonder if he is happy not owning a watch?

Or did he not want to buy a watch in the first place?

I believe that the prices will drop dramatically, the day after Thanksgiving.

I'm 100% a B&P guy because of it; I won't even look at purchasing one without it, regardless of price (and especially because the fakes look so close to the real thing nowadays).
RSC service card guarantees authenticity so box and papers aren't really needed except to get another $1k or so for complete set.

The demand for box and papers full sets is not just about avoiding fakes. It's about having the most authentic collector package. That could include receipts, service records, shopping bag that the watch originally came in, photo of the original owner, helmet of the air force pilot who wore it, etc. The box and papers, receipt, hang tags, etc. are just the tip of the iceberg for some obsessive collectors. Some place value on items like this while others don't. Personally I like complete sets because Rolex watches are so mass produced that full sets aren't that hard to find, so why not go for them.

I managed to purchase full set BLRO 2007 3 months ago for Ł11k. At the time I thought, it was still ridiculously expensive though looking at prices now (not sure on other people’s thoughts) but it keeps rising. It’s one which has never been serviced/polished, but great condition. Had the Patina bezel though I went to RSC to get a new Pepsi bezel fitted for a refresh look :)

Spot on. If box n papers are that important to someone, go for it. Apparently for collectors it's very important. For me (I'm not a collector) it's a nice to have but not a requirement. I bought my 16710 without them.

I think 16710 price is indeed coming down. My local dealer reduced the price of this 16710LN from 10k to 9.95k. Had to get it, so I did

Just a bit of background on my 5th vintage/neo vintage GMT, I first thought with all these bubble burst, global economic slowdown, HK protest thingy, I thought 16710 prices will come down a little eventually. It's been 3 months waiting an boy was I wrong.

It's true that most 'hot' modern Rolex models' prices have softened in the past 4-5 months, but I don't see it happening, or at least not yet happened to vintage/neo vintage GMT.

Since I need this LN to complete my collections, so I just decided to get it.

OP, if you like the watch and they're available, just bite the bullet. If price indeed came down, then life goes on and enjoy your new piece in good health

I don't think you can apply the same rules to discontinued models as current 6 digit references so even if there is a lull I think that they will remain expensive due to the fact that they are no longer in production.

This topic is like a dagger in my eye every time I think about watches. Definitely my biggest watch-related regret. Bought a complete set Z serial Pepsi in mint condition from a trusted seller here along with a new Coke bezel for $6500 in 2013. Money was tight in 2015 and I sold it all for $6500 feeling great that I had worn my dream watch for 2 years "for free". A few years later I came back around looking to get another one and wow, how things have changed. Much harder to find a clean example in the later serials (don't care about 3185, but don't want a much older one). And the prices, wow. We're definitely due for a recession so I'm going to see how pricing looks when that happens. If the pricing holds through that, I'd say it's "permanent" and it's time to buy. In general my philosophy is I'd rather buy a $15k watch that holds its value than an $5k watch that loses 50%. The problem is it's hard to know which is which.

You mean some authentic collector package like this fully complete one from 1978 incl. purchase invoice (amount Dutch Guilder NLG 1020,- equivalent $ 502,-......btw price has meanwhile increased 50 fold)......

I had the same idea - 16710 watches would decrease in price with a recession.
