Hate to tell ya......those very rarely make it back to the owner. Hopefully you filed a report with your serial number. Only way you nmight see it...is if it's seized in a drug or parole raid....or if it makes its way to a pawn shop.

sorry........

Report it to Rolex, they have a stolen watches database.
If your watch is ever entrusted to Rolex for service, they will notify you and return it to them if you can prove it is yours (police report).

X2. Unfortunately, I know your pain. I had my very first and beloved Sub Date stolen out of my work truck. This was after I just had it serviced and returned from RSC. Once you report it as stolen (with the serial number) to the appropriate law enforcement agency, the number is entered into the National Crime Information Center. This is a nation wide data base exclusive to law enforcement, providing law enforcement officers with the ability to trace the watch via the serial numbers.

Also, LOL-X was right about reporting it to Rolex. Just make sure you have ample copies of the police report handy.

After several years, I have all but given up on ever seeing mine again

Hopefully you were insured.

Best of luck!

How was it stolen? I'd report it to the police and your local RSC.

I hope it is insured.

Thanks for your replys,

I'm not sure how/when it was stolen to tell the truth. I rarely ware the watch and kept it in the orignal box inside my closet. We have house keepers but I trust them...had them for years without a single issue. Anyhow, back in May we took a two month trip to Arizona. We rented a house in Tucson and hired some house keeping. About two weeks before coming home I opened my Rolex box and it was gone! The last time I opened the box was long before our trip. So I don't know if it ever made it to Tucson or if it was stolen in Tuscon. Then to make things worse, we took a week trip up to Sadona while we were in Arizona. So it could have been lifted before I left or either in Tucson or Sadona? I never tried waring it once until almost time to come home.

I have never filed a police report before and not sure what place to report it stolen? The other thing was my wife mentioned she had put a bunch of watches in the safe before we left for Tucson. So I had to wait until I got home to see if it was in the safe...nope. I'm glad we locked the rest up...my watch was one of the cheaper ones. Anyhow, I'm going down to the PD and file a report so I can get it on the list with Rolex and Law Enforcement.

As for insurence, ya, we have insurence but this isn't about the money, A) someone took something that wasn't theirs and B) my wife gave me that watch as a Christmas gift!

Umm...every other post actually gets posted?

Anyhow, I'm not sure how or when the watch was lifted. I keep the watch in the original box in my closest. May 30th, we took a two month trip to Arizona. So without checking my watch, I through the box in my suit case. Then once I got to our rent house in Tucson, I placed it in a bed side dresser. July 10th, we took a week trip up to Sadona and again, without checking the box for the watch, I simply through it in my suit case. It wasn't until we got back to Tucson from this trip, when I actually noticed the watch missing. You see we had two different sets of house keepers and nanny's for both houses and the hotel/resort had it's own house keeping. So technicaly it could have been lifted from three different places in two different states.

Well I just got back from my local PD and they was reluctant to even file a report. They seem to think it was stolen out of town on vaction which I can agree but since I can't varify I left town with it, I think it's only fair to do a report here localy. My next course of action is to contact both the resort and the city of Tucson. Then contact Rolex and see if they can keep an eye out for my watch.

Thanks for your support and suggestions,
Ray

ruff story man

Its pretty incredible that in 2008 there is no tracking technology embedded into our most precious of items

with a rolex i bet they could place that sort of technology in one of the links of the bracelet
a lowjack for watches

best of luck

I would contact each law enforcement department in each city where you were at. The local P.D. can not do much as they don't work in the other cities you were at. The best the local Police can do is take a report I do not see any Detective driving to those cities to investigate the theft. You should spend the time and call the other departments as well.

Ray, sorry to hear about your watch. All the advice previously posted is spot on. Good luck and here is to hoping that it will be found/returned to you. One comment to all -- it seems the safest place for our Rollies are on our wrists.

Thanks people,

So far I contact the resport I stayed at in Arizona which yeilded nothing. All they said is they'll look into and that I should have kept it in the hotel safe. I'm going to contact Rolex tomorrow and make sure they got my fax. Then I'll put in a call to the Tucson PD as well.

Pm sent. Guy wrote me and said it is sold. Who knows, but the serial was different that yours. He send me pics of it weeks ago, and as of today law enforcement databases do no show it stolen, nor does the large Swiss watch database that a forum member mentioned. As for rolex themselves, don't hold your breath. I called them today stating I had suspicion of a local stolen watch, and they said their database was for internal use only, and if they checked thus one and it was hot- they may be I obligated to look into it---god forbid. I like there product, but times like this make them look like a joke.

My 2c.-

Search for the youngest unmarried house keeper.-

Now about the guy in Phoenix.
If he has the watch consider yourself very lucky...like.. you have fallen from mount Everest,
landed on your feet unharmed ...and also...found a wallet full of cash.
