It was going to be the new 5726 but I got to try one last weekend at a Patek event and it’s a bit top heavy, the bezel looks high and I’m out, looks like it’s the 5711R or the rose gold Aquanaut Travel Time, I’ll see what comes in first, I must say looking through the whole collection I could of easily picked every model, each one is a work of art.

Wow! I’m just in a flux myself... looking to purchase between Patek 5970G(5970P out reach) or 5980-1A-019.

Picked up the 5980R strap 2 weeks ago (kind of semi dressy?). In line with for the new 5726; however, also interested in the 5968a and the 5320G PC

I think I’m going to try to shoot for an aquanaut next just the 5167. I’ve never had one. And I’ve handled the 5164 and the 5968... something about the simplistic dial. So sports model.

I’m torn on my next purchase. Thinking 5205r or 5980r on leather. Don’t have anything in rose gold and they really catch my eye.

Talking with my AD. Everything seems behind. Why I grabbed the 5712g instead of the 5726 on strap. Got pushed from end of year till maybe summer next year.

1) it’s not as hard to get as they make it seem 2) they are all derivations of each other. It’s like buying a Pepsi a Batman a gmt etc 3) the 11 and 12 is the best... all the others are meh. I will try to get a aquanat at some point. My buddy just got one in 3 months no history. That ain’t that hard to get neither. He’s suppose to post on here but probably scared of all the patek guys trolling each other |

What I love the most about this poll is that it shows that roughly 50% of the members casting their votes would go dress for their next PP watch.
Some folks here on TRF insist on declaring the “death of dress watches”, which imho is an absurd perception. The slow down of prices in the secondary market does not at all mean that people are any less likely to buy new and keep. I would reckon that the main forces in the watch market are not the ‘flippers’, but rather the enthusiasts who would not rush to resell their watches only a couple of months (sometimes, weeks) after allegedly finding the ‘watch of their lives’, just because of a minor slip in prices on Chrono24. Speaking for myself and ALL the collectors who I know in person, yes, we may end up selling a watch here and there after years of ownership and enjoyment, but the core of our collections is made of keepers. Even if one considers value retention as the key decisive factor for buying (or parting with) a watch, there are just some references which really do great on this front: Nautis, Acquas, SS Rolexes (esp, Daytonas and GMTs), 15202ST and the FPJ CB. That's it. The situation is far from ‘most sports do well, most dress do bad’. Any standard ROO, for instance, would lose as much in the secondary market as a 5905, 5930, 5170, just to name some (in percentage terms, of course). In sum, despite the slow down in prices of pre-owned dress watches, there is nothing even remotely suggesting the "death of dress watches". |

Actually to be more exact the dress watch is in life support right now , and it’s probably gonna remain there. So it’s just simply gonna be something that a small niche of people will be interested. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
