Clearly more than I can afford, but dreaming is free.

Really surprise with the results 50/50. That said. 50/50 is still clearly over producing dress watches and under producing sports models....

Poll is fun to see, but...

I am not so sure our forum demographic mirrors the demographic of the global market Patek annually sells $1.5 billion into.

Even though I hated it when it first came out, the aquanaut is growing on me. Not that I need another watch. But still...

If I buy another Patek, it will be a dress watch. Their sports watches do nothing for me. But my next watch will be a sports watch; an Overseas.

Once you get the sports Patek's it's only onwards towards dress pieces if you have the means. Probably going to be adding a 5271p,5070p,6102p and maybe few others. Dont really see them as dress pieces as you can switch the strap up and i never wear suits or do any dress oriented events. Plus no one is going to tell you what to wear or ask you why you're wearing a dress piece with some jeans

Sports. Im done with dress after I got the 5205G. No thanks.

A 5711/1R is a dress watch too. Slides so well under the sleeves.

I don’t know if I agree with that. Most correlations only require a small subset of data. This is probably as good of a sample set as one can get. ..this forum has a collection of guys/gals that really follow PP and the watch market.

The absolute forecast may not be 100% but the direction of travel and magnitude of the change in % should correlate well

Some smart math guy can probably help me out here.

On the list for the weekly calendar. If that counts as a "dress" watch.

Great choice. The interchangeable straps is also a big plus on this very smart looking watch.

No doubt about that, The PM dress market watch market is very soft at the moment and I really do not see that trend changing, anytime soon, with the move to casual and more robust all activity water-resistant watches. This can be seen with the aftermarket used retail pricing on many PP dress models. It is sure a "buy and keep for the next generation" market on dress watches at the moment. Truth in advertising. LOL

the standard deviation is unknown here... meaning the sample here is not random but totally biased. watch nerds....i believe there is quite a few PP buyers around who just buy one PP watch or who just buy the PP watch their AD recommends them. those are not sampled here. if you restrict the market to 'informed buyers' then the confidence level here is very high, i'd say 90% or so.

My view from my original answer was that the fine folks on this forum don't represent a global sample but instead a smart informed group with bias...some factors like the forum being in English, being the Rolex forum, and a group of collectors that buy multiple pieces... was part of my why.

Your point about the math is a good point too.

Assuming a confidence level of 95% and confidence interval (margin of error) of say 5%. If we guessed that Patek had 45,000 unique buyers each year (I guessed 60,000 pieces and then accounted for buyers of multiple pieces) then the sample size would need to be ~380
