Photos are very clear @Juhuatai and it's obvious something happened during service.

To me...it looks as if a chemical touched the dial. It not only turned the color of the paint, but there appears to be a couple divots or impressions on the dial itself.

Hey Philip, thank's for the input I'll be sure to pass that along to him . So my watchmaker got the watch and says he thinks it might be Rodico residue? I'm not sure if that's possible but he's waiting for some swabs to come in to try and clean it.

That was my first impression, but then I saw discoloration of that area...can't be from rodico. Rodico can leave a residue as I have experienced it, but does not change the actually color of the dial. and is now why I do not use it. Also, the impressions or divots is another concern if that is actually what they are.

Oil would make dark blotches not turn the dial a lighter brown

Yeah I asked him to take some high res pics of the dial so I will upload once I get them. Interesting, I'm wondering what chemical/solvent they would have used. He says all they do with dials are swabs and air. His guess is someone got lazy and used rodico since they're out of swabs.

It could have been something that accidentally contacted the dial.

Just got good news. Turns out it was Rodico residue. Dial looks as good as new! They're going to keep it for a couple days to see if anything develops, since they didn't recall seeing the residue before they sent it out last time.

The photo is from the watchmaker and is at the highest res I could upload.

Very good news but whats that under the bezel?!
Watch has jst been serviced, right?
That dirt or oxidation (whatever it is) should not be there.

Mmmmmmmm. It gets curiouser and curiouser

Could this be a photo before they started work on the watch?

And they are trying to pass it off as current?

Perhaps they are going to replace the dial without telling you........

Let's relax.

It was just an observation. Dirt gets under the bezel, nothing new. I would just not expect to see any after a full service. Incidentally, all parts are removed and cleaned, put in ultrasounds....
That was all.
If it is oxidation.....which I hope it is not, I would wanna know about it.

OP, just to repeat myself. I am glad the dial is sorted. Hope it is nothing.

Good point. I will ask about the dirt. The dial is definitely original. There’s still a slight smudge by the 3 they’re gonna sort out.

Thanks all for the well wishes

I doubt that is dirt, it's more than likely pitting in the case. Very common on older cases

It can be pitting but it shouldn't be brown unless its filled with dirt or it oxidized.

If it is pitted, there can be rust down in the pitted areas, hence the brown color. I see it quite often, and it generally does not come out by cleaning it.

Stain is all gone! However he accidentally washed the lume off the 3 o clock marker. They are currently sourcing a new dial or will make me whole if they can’t find one. Sigh. I will say the watchmaker has been extremely professional throughout this trial.

Hmm. Stained dial then washed off lume. If this was a more valuable or irreplaceable dial, I would be furious.
