5517 Bezel: Original or Fake?

Hi everyone,

I've recently found this 5517 on a bankruptcy auction...
The Bezel does not seem original. I would really appreciate if you could share your opinions on the originality (or lack thereof) of the watch.

Apologies for the bad quality of the images...

Thanks

Can't say anything with the image quality.

I understand, me neither.
However, what I can see is that the Bezel has additional intervals compared to most of the 5517 I've seen online. Am I wrong?

Missing the sword hands as well. What’s the estimate?

I think the Bezel marks are still visible. You can notice 4 marks instead of 3...

I am positive on the sword hands... cannot see much for the images.
The question is really on the Bezel... any opinions?
Thanks

You need to post larger, clearer and closer pics or a link to the auction site. The pics you posted are horrible and really hard to see.

If you don't want it due to the bezel, you could post the auction site info here?

Well... that’s what is currently happening. Bankruptcy auction in a developing country. Still haven’t managed to get one single comment on the bezel eheh

based on these fotos alone I wouldn't be prepared to gamble 10k on that watch. Can you post the military issue number from the caseback? There are a number of well known fakes that use known numbers and wait for Mr. Wood to chime in.

You got plenty of comments on the photos though, that might be the root of your problem.

Even with the comedy photos since you can see the lug holes it's game over...

Welcome to TRF

You’re not going to get meaningful comments with such poor pictures. That is, other than “stay away” if the auction house is deliberately sending you such poor pictures.

But in the spirit of helping, here are a couple of shots - it is genuine and from an auction performed by a reputable house - the differences should jump off the page for you.

Except that sometimes the fixed lug is removed.

But the photos are not strong enough to tell anything else.

Ha ha. Never realised Italy was a “developing country”

Rolex brand watch in steel, non-original fabric strap mod. Submariner matriculation 5339906 model 5517 movement caliber 1520 black index oxidised and retouched dial, black ferrule, esalite glass without lens with box and some parts modified.

The resident MilSub experts would know if that was within the correct serial range or not.
