Frankfurt Airport AD hiding sports watches in the drawer
I am traveling from Frankfurt Airport and visited the Rolex AD at the airport in Terminal 2. There was a lady that told me there was no SS sports watch available.
We had a nice little chat and she noticed my SS Pepsi and was very impressed and inquired where I bought it from. I asked her about the Tudor BB58 and she opened a a drawer and I could clearly see from the reflection of the wall mirror there were stainless Rolex watches in the drawer (!!!) I said I want to see the other Rolex watches in the drawer and she said they are for customers. I asked which one as I am almost sure that there is no waiting list at the Airport AD's. I asked her nicely if I could at least see them. Very reluctantly she took two watches out. A submariner and a Sea Dweller !!!! The watches were in their coffins and there was absolutely no note written on them so she telling me they were for special customers was obviously not true. She put the SS pieces away and said she can't sell these as these are for special customers. I have a feeling these watches are sold not with bundles but with some kind of special kickback deals to grey dealers. It was very frustrating that she lied first and then suddenly she did have Sports watches but wasn't able to sell them. Last edited by Dr.Mehr; 23 October 2019 at 04:33 AM.. This reads like the beginning of a good movie. The movie slowly reveals what is really so special about those watches or the people that come to pick them up...……….
Life is stranger than fiction some times. |

What were you looking to purchase? Did they have it?

Meh. You weren't special enough for her so you didn't make the cut. Move on.

A lot of assumptions here.
No idea why the sales persons ethnicity is relevant or important here. physical availability vs availability to purchase is different. You combined them. out of sight, out of mind. Having experienced, "the watch in the case is not for sale" method first hand, I personally prefer to not see anything. |

Sounds like you didn't ask what was available for purchase, and then when she showed you still didn't buy anything!?

Bravo! , you made yourself sound very bigoted; Clearly making a point to let us know she was an Asian sales rep... and assume kickback for Chinese passengers. They can do whatever they want in this market.

As employees of Rolex aren't they supposed to sell the watches at the airports to whomever wants to buy them. They should have displayed these. Thats what the normal practise is in London, Amsterdam and Paris airports AD's.

They could be selling them to a flipper. Maybe.
But they could be selling it to a steady customer as well. Not impossible but there is a slim chance. There are many people who travel regularly and are watch aficionados. |

If you were a regular at a restaurant on a weekend, and the wait was 2 hrs, do you think the hostess or maitre de would let you wait those full 2 hours or let you slide into that empty table that everyone can see is vacant?

Wow, these threads are so old.
Lots and lots of assumptions. Do you think they randomly throw watches into a drawer without logging them into their inventory, and assigning them to potential clients? It’s a business, not some bowl of Halloween candy. |

Stop making everything about race everyone. The OP was just letting everyone know who was hiding the watches. If it was a 95 year old Grandma he would have said that and nobody would have their asses puckered. It is a descriptive sentence so you don't have to witch Hunt every employee.
