Unexpected Incoming

So for the past year I have been wearing the same watch everyday... my submariner 114060. I wear it everywhere including to work, hiking, swimming, etc. The watch has became like part of my body and I do not baby it so it is getting banged up a bit. Getting new watch was going to be tough because I could not imagine not wearing my 114060, but I have been looking around at options.

I received a call from the local AD today. I completely forgot that I asked to be put on the list for a CHNR. I "knew for certain" that I did not want it, but since they were kind enough to offer it to me I went up to take a look. I was stunned by the watch in person. Never did I think I would buy another watch the first time seeing it in person especially a two tone. I have never enjoyed two tone watches in the past. I am eating my words today. The submariner will still be my daily watch, but the CHNR will be for nights out and traveling.

It is a difficult watch to describe without seeing it. I want to say it has wrist presence, but it is not "flashy", which I know are contradictory statements. I also cannot believe I like the rose gold as much as I do. I would have laughed anyone out of the room a year ago who told me I would be wearing a two tone watch with pink gold. I do not believe that two tone watches are considered as popular here in the US, let alone in the midwest where I live, as in other parts of the world.

In any event, I know it is not one of the super in demand steel watches but I could not be any happier with any other watch.

CHNR and sub are a perfect Rolex combo. I’m lucky to count those two as part of my collection and share your enthusiasm.

So what’s next?

I know exactly how you feel. Being a fan of the original rootbeer GMT, I was skeptical about the CHNR before seeing it in person. When I was offered it by my AD and I put it on my wrist I was immediately in love. I had zero plans of buying a watch that day as I had only had my SubC for six months at that point. Once it was on my wrist, however, I couldn’t walk out without it.

Congrats to you! I can see how you fell for it. It's certainly a piece that needs to be seen in person to appreciate it's true beauty on the wrist. Enjoy!!...

I wish I could get my wife, who hasn’t seen it in person, to love as much I did when I tried it on while traveling. Congrats!
