Speedmaster Winding
Got a basic Speedmaster, manual wind, hesalite and have a question on winding. I can wind about 40 revolutions and it doesn't seem to get tight. I'm afraid of possibly overwinding. Roughly how many revolutions does it take to properly wind this watch? Thanks, Sam

I always find approx 40/50 full winds. Bear in mind many of us only wind a half to 3/4 each go. Don't worry. Keep going. It will stop when fully wound I.e. You won't be able to wind any more....

Yep, I wind mine every morning around the same time. 20 winds for about a 24 hour period so I think around 40-50 from a dead stop sounds just right. You would really need to twist the crown with a pair of pliers to snap something so don't worry about using too much pressure.

Everyone winding varies because 1 wind to us is completely subjective (no one's exact and those of us like myself that wind faster usually doesn't go all the way around with 1 wind)....just wind it until it doesn't wind anymore, won't hurt the watch unless you brute force it with pliers or something when it's already stopped from a full wind.

I actually find winding my moonwatch to be quite stiff
Bit of a pain esp with the crown guards Does it loosen up over time ? Surprisingly even though same movement I can wind my LE CK2998 with one finger but my moonwatch requires full two finger grip Thoughts ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thanks for the feedback! Sounds like what I am experiencing is more or less normal. Seems like luck of the draw. I'm tempted to get a crown winder tool Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I second sensui. I have two speedmaster, one i cannot turn without using thick finger cod, and one is smooth as butter. I asked Omega servc center a long while ago, and they said this is normal.
Pls share info if you get the winder tool. Not many made for manual wind, especially the one with crown and crown guard almost at same height |
