Considering 5196P
I have eyed this reference for a long time. With recent update to the calatrava line, I don't know how much longer this will remain in production so debating whether to finally pull the trigger. I know the negative aspects of this reference including lack of exhibition case back and small movement but the proportions are perfect and the dial is absolutely amazing.
Prices for these preowned has crept up to mid 30s and approaching retail. What does the patek community think of this reference in general and in today's market?

I have owned the 5196P for many years and still own this fabulous watch. It is a great way to get into a platinum Patek piece at a "lower" price point. Most platinum watches have complications and it is not common to see a platinum Calatrava.
If you like the watch, get it before it goes away! |

5196P looks plain, simple but very elegant.

I have the yellow gold and the size and feel is perfect, the solid case back does not bother me.

Thickness 8 mm , that’s a dealbreaker for me. But if you want a slim dress watch then go for it
