I currently own a submariner SS 16800, serial # 729xxx that has been converted to a tutone look by using a 62523-H14 jubille bracelet, gold bezel, gold crown, and black and gold insert, dial, and hands. it's been like this since the mid 80's and I want to restore it to its original condition. Any recomendations on a good watchmaker in the south Florida ( Miami / Ft Lauderdale) area that can handle this for me?

You could be looking at between 2 and 3 thousand or more to do it correctly. It would take some time to source all the period correct parts.FYI Rikki

BTW, if the old parts are original Rolex you can probably sell them to recoup some of your cost...

Thanks guys. I will let Rikki chime in on what was replaced internally ( it was a little crunchy when I would wind the watch) since I was really focused on how it would look. The bezel was aftermarket, but I was able to get $180 for the gold. I just saw a set of NOS tritium hand sets for sale (on another forum), but at $500 I can't see myself pulling the trigger ( just dished out a chunk of change). I would love to have them at some point, but right now I am happy to have it as close as you can get to a new 30 year old watch.

If you add up all the parts needed ( NOS tridium dial, period correct bracelet, new bezel, insert, and hands) plus the restoration labor and a full service, I think I came out ok.

Obviously if I would have sourced the parts myself I could have saved a few hundred dollars. However, having the peace of mind that I was dealing with someone like Rikki was well worth it.

I can't even imagine what it would have cost at a RSC and end up with a service dial to boot.
