Panerai Deployment buckle?
Hi, I am looking towards my first Panerai.. still between a 1523 and a 1499.. wrist is about 6.75" so im still trying to decide which i can wear more often... but i also was planning to get the Panerai deployment buckle, mainly for convenice since every time i've been in a store and tried on the Panerai, it seems almost a hassle to put the watch on with a pin buckle.. but i've also been told by a couple people that the deployment buckles are uncomfortable? any thoughts from anyone who has them? My rolex's are all deployment on metal and they're extremely comfortable, oyster and jubilee... but please share! thank you

I have both for my 512, and while I never found it to be uncomfortable, I find myself wearing it on the tang buckle with the asso strap more often. Personal preference. More strap options on tang.

Very very comfortable, though I guess it depends on the wrist. They can be a bit of a pain to switch between straps due to the small screw (still only takes a couple of minutes, though). I keep it on OEM gators.

I may have a dissenting experience, but I disliked the deployment buckle on my PAM024. Maybe it was just the way this particular watch wore, but I ended up putting the Submersible on a tang buckle that I purchased. I found that over a few hours the deployment clasp would dig into my wrist.
I have used a deployment with a Breitling as well. I found their clasp more comfortable. Just my two cents. |

I was going to get a deployant clasp for my PAM 233, but I read somewhere those use thinner straps than the standard tang buckle straps, is that right? I don't want to buy more straps (and I like the look, feel & thickness of the straps I have), so I dropped the idea. This thread reminds me that I should have sought confirmation...

First of all - it's a deployant buckle - specifically on the Panerai, a double-deployant.
(Deployment = the movement of troops or equipment to a place or position for military action (or) the action of bringing resources into effective action) Next - the double deployant buckles are, for me, much more comfortable than single-deployants. I have tried reversing directions on various single-deployants [Chronoswiss, IWC, AP) and they just do not fit my wrist shape comfortably. The Panerai and Radiomir deployants are super comfortable, but, as mentioned above, require straps where the tail side is thinner where the holes are located. |

Yes, the starps are different. The deplo ones are much thinner.

I have an OEM deployant buckle on an OEM Asso strap. It stays on there and I won't take it off. Specific straps are needed for the straps to match the buckle and if you lose that tiny screw, you're buggered. It can't be replaced according to my guy at OP Singapore.
It's comfortable to wear and I like it but horrendously expensive for what it is.

Also there was a post above about changing directions on the single-deployant straps, it worked for me on my IWC. Made it much more comfortable. Find a good AD and theyll give you a deal on the deployant. I got mine with a gator strap for about $600... which is still a ripoff.

I just bought a 233 with a tang buckle and will look for a deployment buckle and a new strap. Can anyone tell me what the current OEM model is for a steel deployment buckle that will fit the 233?
I hear Panerai changed/improved the deployment buckle in recent years. What are the differences? Thanks.

The OEM buckle and strap from Panerai is extremely well made and comfortable. Can't say a bad thing about it.

I prefer to have a deployant on my watches, I purchased the deployant PAV00641 for my PAM337 and also got the correct strap for it MX001LBF. Overall much easier to wear and very comfortable.

I normally like Deployants but the double Deployant design from Panerai is a no for me
Had one on my 311 for a couple of months and switched back to a Tang buckle The Butterfly design was too fiddly compared to a normal tang buckle Maybe i've bee spoilt by Omegas Deployant which is probably the best on the market |

I have 2 deployant setups and like both. Rubber for the 233 and JV for the 390. Both are comfy on the wrist.

Hello,
I received the Panerai Deployant Buckle and Panerai strap today. I purchased a Panerai Deployant buckle and strap on ebay which arrived today. When I tried to put the buckle on the strap, I ran into a problem; to attach the shorter strap on to the deployant buckle, it requires removing the pin from the buckle by unscrewing a small screw. Using my Panerai OEM screwdriver that came with my watch, it was clear the width of the screwdriver blade was too wide to fit (see pic) the slot of the screw in the buckle. I am worried that this buckle is not authentic as it should easily work with a Panerai provided screwdriver. It appears the screw in the buckle requires a screwdriver with a blade less than 1mm wide and the Panerai screwdriver is about 1.4-1.5mm wide. Is this an indication the buckle is not authentic? Since this discovery, I have looked for a smaller width screwdriver and 1mm width and narrower are very hard to find.

Can you show me the side of the buckle that holds the shorter strap? My pic is of the screw that holds the pin in on that side of the buckle.

I just ordered the deployant buckle and an alligator strap today directly from Panerai. I will post pics and info when it arrives.

I received the Panerai deployant and a dark brown alligator strap to pair it with.
Assembling the strap and clasp wasnt too difficult. The screw driver that ships with the watch will also work with the tiny screw that comes with the deployant. Overall, Im pleased with the form and function of this setup. Im used to Omega and Rolex clasps, and I found the Panerai deployant a little fiddly to start with, but itll get easier with time. Its comfortable and it looks good. Id buy it again Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I now have a deploymant buckle on my 233 and it is okay. Frankly, more of a pain to put on than the tang alternative.
The Panerai deploymant has a double hinge (differing from the Rolex single hinge on my DD) which I find is less easy to use. If I were to do it again, I would probably just stick with the tang buckle set up. But isn't the benefit of Panerai to have multiple strap options? FYI, regarding my earlier question, my deployant buckle required a smaller screwdriver to handle the small screw than the one that came with the watch. I think the buckle is legit.

Deployment nothing like my Omega engineering wise,
but was is — Omega the most accurate watch I have ever had as well. But got use to the Panerai rather quickly and like it.
