AP Boutique Taipei - AP Blue Dials

Stopped by the Boutique today in Taipei, Taiwan. Staff is very friendly and I was able to check out some cool pieces thanks to their generosity. I was able to see all blue dials for a side by side comparison. All three blue dials look slightly different, although I suspect that between the 15400 and 26331 it may be an illusion due to the silver subdials being on the chronograph. The blue on the jumbo is a bit of a different hue, leaning slightly towards the darker side of the spectrum. Out of the three, I prefer the 15400.03 as the blue pops so extravagantly.

15202:

15400.03:

Group shot with a 26331 blue dial:

Nice! Thank you for sharing. Were they display pieces? For sale?

The 15202 and 15400 were pulled from the back. I was told that they were already accounted for, so I did not try them on. The 26331 is for sale.

Dont know if its the photo playing tricks, but the 15400 looks A LOT bigger than the 15202.

The lady that pulled out both of them informed me that the waitlist for the 15400 is actually longer than the 15202 for this Boutique, although they get about the same amount of each. Both waitlists are closed and reserved for up until about mid 2019. Whereas I am hearing that the 15202 is more scarce than the 15400 in the US.

I was in the same exact position, looking for a blue-dial AP, but couldn't find any I liked and ended up with this Vacheron Constantin Overseas instead. Unless you have your heart set on AP, I'd consider VC. They make the prettiest blue-dial watch out there, IMHO.

I've had very positive experiences with the Boutique in Taipei 101. Always very friendly, even if they know I'm just window shopping. The few times I visited in the past year, they never were able to show me any blue dial Royal Oaks in SS though, so it's great to see that they had all three of these watches in the store (even though two were already spoken for).

15400 wait list longer could be simple case of it being more affordable, hence higher demand.

The 15400 blue retails the at the same price as the black am I right? And likely the blue has zero discount eh?

Hope you dont mind me asking, what does a 15400.003 blue dial go for retail? I see a lot of them being resold for a hefty premium.

edit; found it never mind! enjoy ;)

Thanks for the pics! The blues are definitely different between the 15400 and 15202 ...

That is a very elegant looking watch. I wanted to stop by the VC inside 101 but ended up getting cut short on time

Every Boutique that I have stopped by at has been very accommodating. The Boutique in Ginza and Taipei both were very willing to let me handle their watches and talk watches with, but the lady today went out of her way for me when she offered to pull out all three blue dials. I certainly did not expect that at all!

I agree partially with that, however I feel that someone who is willing to dish out 18-20K for a new SS watch probably would not be barricaded by an extra 5K~ if that made a world of difference to them in comfort via size. There is already no justification for spending so much on a watch.

At MSRP for both pieces, I think it comes down to the size watch that someone truly desires, and seems like the preference in Taiwan weighs heavier with a larger size case and dial. I know for me, both were options, but the 15202 truly did not feel as warm on my wrist as the 15400, although I am bias towards bigger watches.

MSRP is $17,800 in the US and the MSRP I was told today was about 540,000NT which at a 29.3NT exchange rate equates to about $18,500.

Thanks for sharing as well! That is an awesome duo. The extra 2mm's in the case makes a world of difference IMO

Very cool. I’ve always had great experiences with the AP boutique at 101.

Great comparison.
Must be nice to see them all at once in person.
