Band Tension
I have a 81 DJ and I wondered if there is a way to tighten the band where it connects to the casing W/O replacing the pin? I noticed the top link by the 12 marker is a lot more loose than the 6 and wondered if there were any steps to gain tension in that area.

And here I thought you were talking about the lead singer dating the drummers exwife.

Why not just replace the pin if it's showing wear? Or you might need to replace that link if it's especially worn.
It's surely not the endpiece causing the gap. It's either the pin or the link.

That looks like the 16220 DJ, and if so, it takes the 558B end pieces with the oyster bracelet. More importantly, the 'B' in that end piece number (or the alternate 555B jubilee end piece) designates the use of larger diameter pins. Verify that you have the fatter pins - if not, thats probably the source of the 'slack' space. Hey, its worth a quick look...good luck!

Not to hijack the thread but does anybody know if the 558b is a different shape than the 558? I have a pair of 558b that I just recieved for my 1601 Datejust and from the looks of it, it seems as if the 558b doesnt quite fit flush with the case, the end link seems a bit rounder than the way the case is shaped at the lugs.
