Thanks guys but I dont think its a Daytona,It is quite a simple small faced watch and Iam
pretty sure circa 1956 or there abouts,only things on dial are Oyster under the 12 and shock resistant above the 6 oh and it has Brevet above one of the serial numbers. thx Andy |

I guess that we need more information then..
A 6240 model number is for an early Daytona chronograph... Pictures would help.......

Aha, a different animal altogether.. Likely a 17 jewel manually wound 34mm model Oyster that could have a variety of different dials and hands.
Back then there were three grades of movement depending on where they were shipped to... the standard, Precision, and Super Precision - I think that the difference was in jewels and perhaps the hairspring. Probably originally on leather with a domed bezel. - a nice piece that should clean up very well. Restored, they make the perfect "formal" wear watch....

Brevet just means that it is patented...

interesting! my rolex iphone app does not list the 6246... it lists the 6240 & 6241 - both of which show images of an cosmograph without crown & pusher guards. but you said yours did not have 'cosmograph'...
despite how awesome this app is, i was hoping to be an 'aquifer of knowledge'... oh well... please post some photos! most importantly, enjoy! |

That's the perfect watch.
I'm looking for the same or similar watch and a rivet bracelet to make up a vintage daily wearer. |

That's a beauty.. I wouldn't hesitate a minute to have it refurbished (don't touch the dial and hands except for cleaning)
It would look in any watchbox;.;
