DJII crown loosening

I noticed this morning my DJII crown was loose. I recently returned from a trip to the west coast and adjusted my watch. I distinctly remember tightening the crown down (mainly because i'm worried about water getting in the watch based on what i've read here). Do these crowns loosen on their own or what?

They shouldn't loosen by themselves, best get it checked out to be sure.

The only time I've experienced a crown backing out was when the threads on the tube were badly worn. In almost 40 years of wearing Rolex, this has happend on a couple watches, at least. If it happens a second time, I'd have it looked at.

I have tightened it down so I'm hoping it won't back out again. I thought perhaps the back of my hand/wrist area rubbed the crown too much and caused it to loosen. I don't know....

I usually have the same hope, but if it happens again, I'm going to guess it wasn't the rubbing against your wrist.

I haven't experienced any loosening of the crown on my DJII. How much wear does yours have on it?

Purchased new in January 2012. I wear it every day and haven't had it backout before.

Crown was loose again tonight. I don't get it. I'm going to have to take it to the local AD and see what he says.

The AD said I probably didn't tighten the crown down enough. I explained that I tightened it pretty good. He said the crown has to be torqued pretty well. He tightened it and said to give it a week. I'll keep you posted.

I don't think that will make much of a difference if you already tightened it. Either way, keep us posted!

My guess is that your AD is mistaken. You do not want to over-tighten the crown. Just until it stops and a hair more should be more than plenty. I am guessing there is an issue here unless you were not tightening it properly which I doubt. I have never had any issues myself with the crown coming open however if I did a trip to the spa would be in order.

Sorry to hear, let us know what happens here in the next couple of days and if it opens again.

I experienced the same with my Milgauss GV. AD sent it in for repair and they found nothing wrong. Instructions were to tighten it harder and haven't had an issue since.

Not sure you'd want to tighten too much. There's a point as you're tightening where you can feel it stop/bottom out. When I feel it stop, I put slightly more pressure then stop. Any more tightening cannot be good, as you're only eating into the rubber gasket at that point.
