Double seiko incoming!

So I recently went through a major overhaul of my collection during covid, because I had too much time on my hands! So I sold all of my previous Seiko’s, Credor and Grand Seiko’s other than my trusty skx007 and a couple king Seiko’s. I had lusted after a Credor gclp995 for a couple of years, but they are really hard to come by, and in trading another watch I was offered the GCLP995’s brother, the GCLP991, which is a limited of 100, lacquer dial, hand wound spring drive.

I’m pretty excited about it. It’s very thin and finished amazingly. And the dial is pretty fun and beautiful. I do hope to find the bracelet that comes on the GCLP995, to placate my bracelet obsession. I hope Credor comes through for me on that.

The second watch is a familiar one to the seikoholics, it the Arita porcelain Dial SPB093, the dial has always been fun too look at and I got a great deal on a Black Friday sale and jumped at it.
And here’s a couple of shots together

The Presage is thicc!!! But I like them both for different reasons.

Congratulations!!

I was wondering what you were up to, not having noticed many posts from you.

I’m surprised you’d let go of some of your watches, SBGE249 included, but as they say, onwards and upwards.

Ha! Covid got me crazy! And I went on a German independent binge! One thing I am learning g about my self is that watches where the crown dig into my hand\wrist with normal movement and are heavier than 150g really bother me. It’s been a breath of fresh air to realize this and change my focus. So the GO Sea Q panorama had to go, because it was a bad offender of that criteria. That’s what I traded for the Credor.

It’s really great, for the life of me I don’t understand why they don’t use porcelain on the high end spectrum. Grand seiko sbgk with a porcelain dial would be awesome. Glad to own it.

Thanks! I’m just a fan of Seiko’s full lineup. They have something in every single category from a couple hundred bucks to 500k...all in-house. Something for everyone.

Nice watches. I have been thinking about something from the presage collection. I'm good on Rolex for now and don't want to play the AD game. I went to a dealer local to me the other day and had a look at every line of Seiko automatics. You are correct that they have something for everyone. I am seriously considering a couple pieces. Their finishing looks good, even on pieces that aren't Grand Seiko. The bracelets on the sport watches seemed well made as well. I'm going to follow some of these Seiko threads and maybe decide on an incoming of my own.

The seiko rabbit hole is fun. Good luck! I think prospex and presage lines even run the gamut of entry level to mid tier luxury. Finishing on movements aren’t going to blow anyone away, but they are sufficient for the price.

I saw a prospex with a hi beat movement at the dealer close to me for 6 grand. I would say that it better be luxury for that. I had to do a double take because it wasn't Grand Seiko and still cost that much.

Yes, the SLA’s and LX lines can reach the stratosphere...but the quality is definitely up to par with GS...my opinion, but I dare say I like those offerings more than some of the offerings from GS
