5-digits or nothing.
4-digits are really vintage, 6-digits look weird with their maxi cases.

An updated 5 digit sub with a glidelock clasp has to be the most comfortable watch I have ever worn.

sub, explorerII, and daytona... all five digits.

owned the current explorer and several newer daytona, none of them lasted in my collection. never tried a modern sub, i just love the lug holes too much to consider parting with my 14060m.

Love my 16610, bought in 2005, choose black bezel as I didn’t like the green which was also in the shop..think I might have told this one before a few times.
Anyway wouldn’t change it for anything. I’m also partial to the newer subs which probably wear a bit like my GMT, so basically I’m sitting on the fence.

I bought my 16610 for this exact reason. The maxi case 6 digit models ruined the iconic design of the Sub to me, although they're undeniably technically better. But that's the thing about passion and hobbies, right? "Technically better" doesn't make it better in the eyes of a collector.

I went back even further a year ago and picked up a 1675, which was a mistake since the Sub I loved barely gets any wrist time now! Now I'm planning to sell my 16610 and grab a 1680 before prices keep spiraling out of control

I'm also into the early 2000's Rolexes with my beloved 16600 and 116520. There is one exception. I love the GMT ceramic every since it was released and own an 116710 BLNR that I really enjoy.

I took it off today and put back on the 116520 to charge it up and then the 16700 gmt. What I realized is I have no love for the new! Am I crazy or does anyone else’s just love the feel and look of the classic Rolex.
I much prefer the look of your new Sub compared to the Daytona and the GMT.

Tell it like it is. I'm willing to give the latest ones a try but I won't pay premiums when what I have is nicer!

It's statistics so you know it doesn't lie.

With my current collection I've not got a single four or five digit watch. What I do have is watches that wear the same as the five digit ones. The advantage of modern watches is in their build quality. I like the bracelets, dials, and the whole packages better than the four and five digit models. So for me modern watches that work are the Daytona, Milgauss, Yacht-Master, and Air-King. I'm not really interested in DJs or even DDs although I've been thinking about the later recently. Also I've got a passing interest in the OPs. Oversized cases just won't work for me which excludes the modern Subs and their derivates as well as GMTs.

100% agree with this, after much trial and error I’m pretty much down to Daytona, Yacht-Master and Day Date, but I vastly prefer modern bracelets. This is from experience with all of the different options.

I must say that I prefer the look of the vintage Rolex, but the comfort of the newer models. The clasps on the 6-digits are very nice, not that thin stamped sheet metal of the older models, and the adjustability is so much better. My 2001 GMT with the lug holes looks great, and gets respect from collectors and AD's, but that clasp really diminishes my joy in wearing it compared to my 2-year-old DJ.

Rather have a modern Tudor than a 5-digit...sorry the clasp and bracelet are total garbage...yes it works but honesty its not on par anymore.

Amen brother! One 5-digit is enough depending on quality. I cannot imagine collecting a full box of rattlesnakes and call that luxury. Wait there is an American rolex "guru" in Japan doing this...
