Full-filled a dream!
Ever since I have been exposed to Rolex, the Day Date on the President Band was the watch that made my mouth water. With its limited availability only in precious metals, I believed that acquiring it would be far out in the future. I started saving for it, but as I was researching Rolex more and more, I got an ich for a Submariner. A true classic in the Rolex World.
I bought the submariner pre-loved, but sold it soon, as I was put of by the stigma that is attached to a Rolex. Being quite young, I really experienced some unfortunate situations, where people would judge me before giving me the opportunity to prove myself, simply because I was wearing a Rolex. Therefore after only a few months of ownership, I sold the Sub. You can guess what happened next; I missed having such a rugged and go anywhere watch in my collection, and I decided to not pay attention to what others think, and went on the hunt for a new GMT Master II LN. Having bought the watch new, I believed this would satisfy my demand for new watches for a while. I was wrong, and soon after a 36mm White Buckley Dial Datejust joined the collection. It was "vintage" made in '83 and provided great contrast to the GMT. Through all this time, I was looking for a more low key Rolex, and decided that the 36mm Explorer was what I wanted. I found an incredibly deal with Box and Papers, and jumped up on it. About 4 months after believing that the Collecting was over, and the last purchase, the Explorer, I saw a White Gold 36mm Blue Dial Day Date available for sale at DAVIDSW (a great seller I can only recommend, please find attached details of the transaction; https://www.rolexforums.com/showthre...27#post8591427) I decided to take my models in to a local shop and see what value I could receive for them, trading up to the ultimate grail. The offer was good, and I decided to go for it. The Watch has recently arrived, and I am over the moon. Finally having the ultimate grail for me; when it comes to Rolex; on my wrist is a feeling one can't really describe. Since no incoming is complete without pictures, please find attached the watches that are fondly remembered, and the new Day Date that will rule my wrist for hopefully quite some time. Therefore I started my Rolex collection with a GMT Master II LN Model, bought new from

Wow....Absolutely beautiful DD! A big congrats on accomplishing your dream watch! Thanks for sharing your story. I love the path you took to get to the holy grail. Looking back, it probably was a better path since you got to have the experience of the other models too! I love the DD and hope to have one someday myself. I'm at the beginning of my road, like where you were before you bought your Sub.

Well done. Huge congrats!
Please advise whether the blue dial color is different from the DateJust blue dial color. Thanks in advance! You may check this post: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=605287 |

Thank you to all the great comments! I appreciate each one of them. As far as I know, the Dial is similar to a Datejust Blue; it's definitely sunburst, and not flat. Again, this is the 36mm Model, so all I can say to the people asking me how I'm getting on? I'm absolutely loving it!!!
To Conforfair who said I might replace the ones I let go; who knows - maybe ;-)
