I Love This Watch

I have owned this watch since March 2016. It is one of my favorite watches. From the shaved CGs to the Chromalight dial/hands.......it is just a really fun watch. I thought I might share some pictures from today.

Nice! It is very nice looking tool watch. I notice no cyclops either. Looks like you use it for intended purpose, which is refreshing.

Yes, it has a 116520 Daytona crystal. It also has welded lug bars, so it will only accept a NATO.

I believe you wrote about this watch once before somewhere, HODINKEE perhaps? It’s very cool and I love your work!

And no one even notices the LV dial?....hodinkee did an article on this watch? Um...? It would be out of character.

I think this watch is rad, hip, and forward thinking. Why they welded bars?

In reality, it was featured when it was still owned by the previous owner.

It’s actually a Chromalight dial and handset from a 116610. The watch started its life as a 16610LV but the dial, hands, and bezel insert were sold/traded years ago.

Welded Lug bars. My thoughts were that the midcase was already modified beyond repair, and I have always wanted a Rolex with fixed bars. I can’t justify spending money on a Milsub.....so this was the one. I never have any intention on selling this watch, so I could really care less about resale value. I use this watch for diving, and I’m a bit nostalgic......I prefer a little added security of fixed bars.

I can see why you like it so much; great looking Sub 16610. I like it without the cyclops; mistook it for a 16600!

I think you’ve captured all things I’ve loved about subs, SD’s, and
Rolex history. Reminds me of 6538,16610,116610, and 16600- all in one!

Also, I respect the no regard for resale. I’ve long awaited a watch id be so
Attached to that I’d never consider selling...

Nice piece. Can you share a pic with the dial straight on. I'd like to see how the date looks like that.

it looks like it could hold it's own in a horological bar fight.

I really like the lack of crown guards and cyclops, looks ultra clean
