One thing to consider - it may look out of place to wear a fluted jubilee with shorts and tshirt. I personally think the watch is too dressy for that type of attire. Ultimately you have to consider what you wear most of the time and how it fits into your lifestyle. If none of those things matter to you, then it's you wearing it and no one else, so do as you please.

The jubilee bracelet is the way to go... I love the GMT BLRO for the main reason its got the jubliee bracelet. I think the combo of Jubilee and fluted bezel cannot be beat in the DJ 41

First world problems?

I am sorry to laugh at this, but he is 22 buying a Rolex. Age is a moot point. In fact, Rolex modernized the Day-Just that it looks ageless now. The yellow gold Date-Just not so much IMHO.

BTW, go with the jubliee with a domed bezel it you hate scratches. That fluted bzezl is cheesy on modern Rolexes.

Enjoy it!

I have 2 blue 36's one on each bracelet as I couldn't decide which bracelet I liked best but I will say that I use the oyster bracelet more for every day use.
I had blue 41 which l sold as I felt there was to much dial space.

Jubilee does hide scratches but looks more dressy.

The oyster looks more sporty.

Like mine is older so it does look different, but I ended up getting an engine turned bezel and jubilee bracelet. Looks fine to me, and I wear it with anything

The DJ41 in any combinations looks good. My personal watch is jubilee with smooth bezel as it has the 'right amount of bling', I've tried flutted as well but I felt it is somehow too much.

Rolex is putting the oyster on the fluted Sky Dweller and it looks incredible to me.

In the same way, I think the oyster looks amazing on the fluted DateJust 41.

The jubilee felt much lighter in weight than the oyster and much cheaper and flimsier to me.

Smooth bezel with oyster bracelet. I agree with all those who said that jubilee+fluted has an older look, and it is overrated.

Also, the smooth+oyster combo is far more versatile and can be worn with anything, the jubilee and fluted bezel is too shiny and dressy, wearing it casually can feel a bit awkward imo.

I notice you have both a 116234 and a 126234. Which do you like better (specifically dial and case)?

This is what is so great about the DateJust, it is so damn flexible.

My DJ41 is Rhodium, Smooth and on a Jubilee and I think that it looks just great, it goes with everything.

Although I would love a DayDate or one of the un-obtainable watches (not a Daytona though) I may go for a second DJ but on an Oyster, or maybe a Milgauss.

All options are obviously great and it's just personal preference. On my most wanted list is a silver dial 41 datejust with smooth bezel on a jubilee (already have an Explorer and Explorer 2 in white). The smooth bezel makes it much more casual while the jubilee differentiates it from most other models. If it was my first rolex though, I would be tempted to go smooth and oyster. Such a simple but great looking watch. Good luck!

Go with your gut. I will say this...I've had a TT Sub blue for many years and rarely get a comment on it. Bought a new SSDJ41 with jubilee, white sticks and fluted bezel in January this year. A wide range of ages are constantly commenting on it. Totally surprised me. FAR more comments in a few months with the DJ than years of wearing the sub.

Hello. The 116234 wears slightly larger and on the Oyster is a fractionally more sporty and gets most wear. The dials are as equally as sexy in blue but l think as you ask me today the 116234 is my favourite. The 126234 being newer keeps better time and I use as dress watch. Both are the same blue, the batons are slightly slimmer on 126234 but it's like asking to choose between 2 children as l love them both.
I've had a blue 41 and other sports references and these 2 plus a Speedmaster are my perfect 3 now.

Blue dial + smooth bezel + jubilee bracelet is so perfect.

Smooth & super jubilee for me , nothing wrong with fluted & oyster either . It’s just down to personal choice & go with what you like & not the perceived look .

I like the fluted bezel with the Jubilee. Smooth bezel for the Oyster.

No bad choices here, but I was recently confronted with the same decision (about one month ago). I ended up going DJ41 fluted on an oyster (dark rhodium dial). At that time, I thought it would be my only Rolex for a while so I valued the versatility of an oyster. Fast forward two weeks and I had the opportunity to buy a SD43 from an AD and I jumped at it (a sub feels too small for my 8in wrist). Now that I own a steel sports watch, I value the jubilee a bit more for the variety. I don’t necessarily regret my decision to go oyster on my DJ41, but I would have considered it more strongly if I knew at the time I would have both. But if I had just one, I wouldn’t want to have only a dressy jubilee as my only option IMHO.
