Opinion: Let’s just stick with Kermit.

I am seeing lots of folks referring to the new 41mm sub with green bezel as “Cermit”. IMO it is an awkward name to pronounce and spell, and when typing it with an iPhone it autocorrects to “Vermont” .

After all, we don’t call the ceramic Pepsi the “Pepcer” do we? No, We have the Pepsi and the [ceramic] Pepsi and 99% of the time you can just use “Pepsi” interchangeably.. I think we should continue to call it Kermit.

Why don't you add 'cermit' to your phone dictionary instead?

I agree with the original premise. .

Every time Rolex moves a decimal or brightens the paint, there is a rush to see who can invent another name, as if that's the point each year.

To take it a step further, I don't think that LV has ever confused anybody.

I live in Italy and "Cermit" will be pronounced "Chair-meat" and, frankly, I don't think I have the energy to deal with that.

If people subscribe to idea of nicknames as an easy way to refer to different references, I don’t think we can use the same nickname for two different references. It potentially creates confusion that requires clarification in conversation.

Someone is trying way too hard to make "cermit" stick. It won't work because we need to differentiate it from the Kermit verbally and cermit just doesn't do it.

This is a nightmare for anyone trying to communicate verbally. I can picture it now "no not Kermit, Kermit"(cermit)

Like a bad episode of get smart where they're arguing:

Maxwell Smart: "the cvaw?"
The Claw: "no not the cvaw, the cvaw"
Maxwell Smart: "Yeah, that's what I said. The cvaw"

Cermit works, if it aint broken don't fix it.

Verbally, it is pronounced Sir-Mit.

Wouldn't it be chir-mit? Like the Cellini is pronounced Chellini? Despite many using Sellini.. Dear me. Not more of that... Lol.

How about people who ACTUALLY own the new Kermit call it whatever they want?

Why should people who 1) may never own the new Kermit 2) hate the kermit 3) years on wait list to own Kermit decide on what it should be named?

OR better yet lets just call it the new Sub LV - nice and simple skip the names

If the BLNR is any indication the community will be split between two names like the famous Batman vs Batgirl argument.

Let's just call it the green sub.

In the beginning, a 5 digit Kermit was born. Now there is a new 6 digit Kermit - same black dial and green bezel. What is the big deal?? Nothing new to invent.

It's a new Kermit. Plain and simple.

I think this is a little different compared to the "Batman" and "Batgirl" debate given the bracelet difference on those two watches.

I like the new Kermit. This is exactly what I was hoping for (had no interest in a blue SS Sub; whole time I've been hoping for a new green sub that's a little more subtle).

I'm going with Shrek since it pisses off a lot of people in this forum.

I don't even use these nicknames when I'm in an AD. It just feels so weird, when you're about to plunk down a huge chunk of change on a watch named after a frog puppet or a comic character. I had to do a double take and check if I'm in a watch store or a comic book store, lol.
