Lugs on new versus previous sub

What is the word for lug width that doesn't just measure the bracelet width but the full length across the bottom of a watch from the outside of the left lug to the outside of the right lug?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm curious whether this distance is the same on the new and previous sub but looks different because there is a wider bracelet on the new one?

Is this making any sense?

I'm quite certain it's the same. The difference is inside, not outside. Made some direct graphics comparison and the outline seems to be exactly the same.

Interesting they’d make this change. One of the things I noticed buying my first Rolex last year was how narrow the bracelet seemed compared to my Breitling.

For the new model the lug width across remains the same, but the end links are wider giving it a slim lug appearance.

Is the lug width of the 41mm sub still 20mm? Or have they shifted it to 21mm?

Bracelet width seems to have shifted from 20 mm to 21 mm. I'm quite certain the overall watch length of 48 mm is the same and the declared watch diameter is a bit fancy. Basically the same watch with wider bracelet.

Very interesting all the terms thrown about over the major redesign of the new submariner case, with the slimmer lugs etc. etc. But as noted on this thread and it will be confirmed, that the point is that the new 41mm case dimensions are so very similar to 40mm supercase except for lug to lug which may be a few mm longer. However the width of the outside edges of the lugs tips are virtually the same, so to accommodate the 21mm bracelet the inside face of the lugs were machined away thus by default that made the lugs thinner. It would be interesting to see a photoshop picture of the 40mm supercase with the 21mm bracelet, I would guarantee it would look virtually exactly the same as the new 41mm sub. So I consider it is in fact the 21mm bracelet that has in effect caused the most visual changes to the overall look of the watch.

They definitely shaved off some metal on the outside of the lugs also, look closely and you'll see the shoulders of the case and crown guards are just a hair thinner now. I also think that overall, the new one has pretty much the same print as the old one.
