Incoming “Tiffany” OP36!

I was out shopping today when I got ‘the call’.

I put my name down as soon as the watch was announced. My wife is a huge Tiffany & Co fan, so I thought it’d make a nice Christmas gift. I have an excellent relationship with my AD, but with the UK lockdown I was starting to worry that it might not arrive before Christmas. I sent an email last week to my sales contact but was told he is working from home until next month, so started to fear the worst. Fortunately I had nothing to worry about. I’ll post pics when I collect it next week! I was told that it is the first of this piece that they have received.

The only Tiffany Rolex I know was way back in the 1970s1980s do you mean the light blue dial OP this years introduction. And even these dials are not really new as again they were around in the 1970s then called stella dials. It's a great colour dial thats seems to be more popular now in 2020.

Congratulations but this is not a Tiffany dial. Different shade of blue and a Tiffany dial actually has a Tiffany stamp on it. There is another thread with this discussion. It's really just a baby blue, more Carolina if anything. Enjoy the watch.

Yeah it's not the Tiffany dial but end of the day the colours of Tiffany and Turquoise are very similar so it's easy to get carried away. Enjoy it and congrats.

Your post is going to chaffe a number of people simply for mentioning “Tiffany”, but whatever you call it congrats on a very cool watch for your wife. Thoughtful gesture.

The light blue OP36 or 41 is my favorite of the OP lineup. Well done!

I like the Tiffany dial. In the same way that I like the Batman, and Hulk.
Fairly certain these aren’t official Rolex names either, but they have stuck as nicknames none the less (even if you dislike it)
If you bought it then feel free to refer to it however you like. And ditto if you haven’t bought it ;)
Congratulations on the purchase.

That is a Tiffany dial! Or a Tiffany & Co. dial.

Your OP36 has nothing to do with that.
Due to its color one could name it "Tiffany-blue dial" or "TB dial" or "TBD" or .... whatever.

Agree on this.

Yes it doesn’t say Tiffany on the dial..

But the hulk doesn’t say it easier

The Batman doesn’t...

The Pepsi gmt isn’t an official Pepsi product either

If people want to call it Tiffany let them be.

I think that the OP and others know this.

By “Tiffany dial” they mean Tiffany blue.

Not “Tiffany stamped dial.”

Congrats on the new watch!

Not sure why people are getting upset about OP calling it the ‘Tiffany’ dial, it’s not as though the ‘Kermit’ was in collaboration with Kermit the frog

I’m guessing:

1) It’s not the same colour. Tiffany’s colour isn’t any old thing, it’s incredibly specific. The OP is way too blue, so the name doesn’t make sense. The colours of the modern Pepsi don’t allying either, but at least there was a historical precedent.

2) There’s a sense of unearned prestige. Real Tiffany dials command a premium (I’ve no idea why, I don’t want the dealers name on my car, and especially not my watch) and so using the same name kinda cheapens the association.

Rolex fanboys say Tiffany dial when the dial says Tiffany on it

It’s not actually a Tiffany dial.

It’s a Rolex dial that says Tiffany on it

It’s just a nickname

Just like Tiffany blue can refer to the new one

You'd be surprised... go on Rolex.com and search "Batman" or "Pepsi", Hulk and Smurf were also on there before they were discontinued.
Nothing comes up under "Tiffany" however

Give it some time lol

Jk

I know that, I’ve read about that on this forum. But I would imagine it wasn’t like that when they were freshly released.
