Sound when turning crown in reverse in the winding position

Just curious, on most of the modern Rolexes I have handled, there is no real sound or resistance when pulling the crown out to the first position and turning it in reverse (opposite of winding it). However, on one particular one I recently handled, there is a slight sound and sensation of clicking. Is this normal and dependent on the movement? The one that made the sound was a 37mm Yachtmaster, vs the others which were 40mm sport watches.

Thanks in advance!

In backwards rotation of the crown, it ratchets, it just doesn't have a catch on it to engage the winding gears.

Most of the time you can hear the clicks of the ratchet; it is a different 'click" than winding. Perhaps it is more subdued on your newer watches.
