Not a Rant...well if you want to rant. :chuckle:

Just wrapped up a Costco trip. No...this isn’t about Rolexes in the jewelry case...
.
.
.
While returning my buggy to the corral in the parking lot I noticed this...

Why can’t Walmart shoppers park buggies as neat and straight?

It can’t be the thriftiness that both sets of shoppers share...opine if you care...

Better than the animals who leave their carts in parking spaces.

Why are they animals? Seems a rather harsh label for people who choose not to do the buggy attendant’s nob.

Because it takes all of 30 seconds to walk a cart back to one of those cages. No one is expecting people to walk them back to the store entrance.

The employees who bring the carts back to store entrances still have to gather them all from the parking lots. I don't consider it some great injustice if I take a cart to where they belong.

We've all seen parking spots that are taken up by carts . I've seen carts randomly rolling in parking lots that end up dinging cars. Frankly I would feel terrible if I left a cart out in the open somewhere and it rolled away and hit someone's car.

I always thought I was keeping someone employed by leaving it about.... but hey. If it’s need maybe it’s just less overtime

I wish I could do anything other than laugh at that.

The rationalization being that leaving a cart out in a parking lot is keeping someone employed. Right.

I can see it now.

Put stuff in car.
Look at cage 20 feet away.
NO! I'm going to leave it right here.
Doesn't matter that if I might end up blocking a spot.
Doesn't matter that it might roll away and hit someone's car.
Nope.
Someone has a job because of me

Never thought about that.

If we all left them randomly scattered in the farthest reaches of the parking lots it would be healthier [mean more exercise for us (walking the extra 1/4 mile)] and more jobs/OT at the stores.

Brilliant!

I refuse to park anywhere near loose carts. runaway carts have radar for my car.

people are lazy generally if they are not being watched. If i owned a store i would have a big sign out front with CCTV mugs of people refusing to follow basic courtesy. I would just shame them

"Buggy?"

Hate to break it to you but that's a shopping cart.

And you might as well ask why can't Wallmart shoppers brush their teeth.

To answer the OP, some people are just lazy.

No need for negative or mean comments on the perceived shoppers at either place, but...

Its simply the weather at the time, design of the corrals and condition of the carts.

And personally, I'm not doing a perfect job someone could and should be hired to do if I'm doing it wrong, and if Wally and Costy had an issue, they'd do an Aldi and make people add a quarter in there and they'll be returned uniformly.

thats a shopping trolley, a cart is what you drive on a golf course, a buggy is a type of car.

I think further investigation is warranted. Perhaps an independent council.

My 6 year-old son has asked me why I return my cart to the corral or store when everyone else leaves them in the parking lot. I tell him there’s nothing we can do about other people, we can only do the proper thing ourselves. Hopefully it wears off on him.

Yet another affirmation that I have found my tribe among these forums. Watch people also tend to be good people.

Great answers...

Well, we are ALL Animals - mammals, that is. But some mammals can park a buggy/cart straight and other mammals can’t and some may just be lazy.

I will throw this out there - a mom/dad alone with toddler(s) can’t easily handle it.

I wonder if the stats change when it’s raining...

My wife loved Publix stores because of 2 things: BOGO & the bagger pushes your cart to your car and returned it to the store.

I have seen the motorized ones parked way in the back - maybe they were racing and the battery died?

I think someone loves their job, and whoever did that, is going places.

My Costco does not even have the cages for carts. An employee has a cart machine and he gathers them up with it and brings them back to the store.

What do they do in the winter in Sweden?

Keep the poor buggies warm inside the store and use reindeers to save the butlers?

Studded tyres and electrical motor is the way to go.

Unless you are disabled I consider you the scum of the earth if you don’t have the courtesy to walk 30 seconds to corral your cart. I’ve never been to a store in my life where the shopping cart employees are patrolling the lot quick enough to prevent damage to other people’s vehicles.

I’d just as soon we cattle prod these people on the spot.

Side note: I keep seeing people this week with another solution. They walk home with their groceries in the cart lol Have you seen these nut jobs?
