Is 42mm too small for Panerai?
PAM has always been a big watch. Is 42mm too small for a Panerai? 7 1/4” wrist, but I don’t like how Panerai takes off the 9 o’clock marker on the 42mm dial.

Personally, with that wrist size, I think you should be able to rock either a 44 or 47mm Panerai. Then again, the size of the wrist is not everything. A flat 6.5” can work just as well, if not better, when compared to a more rounder 7.5” wrist (just to give one example).
So if you’re not 100% sold on the 42mm, I think you should visit an ad/boutique to see what you think about a 44 or 47mm. How it feels on the wrist, etc. To the question if 42mm is to small in Panerai world. IMHO, they serve their purpose and some of the models do look great. So no, I don’t think it’s to small. Probably best to just try a few different models to see which one works best for you. In my experience, pictures very seldom do the watch justice (good or bad...) Cheers, Joe

No. 42mm is just fine. Not everyone can wear hockey puck sized watches.

I like the 42. I never quite got comfortable with the bigger 47s, but 44s are fine for me too. My wrist is around 6.75”.
All just depends on what you like.

The 42 mm works if you want it to work. I am not a fan as I currently prefer the 47 mm watches and think that part of the appeal of the Panerai Watches is the size. I also have a 7.5-7.75 inch wrist.

Depends on the shape of your wrist and your definition of too small. Seems everyone’s perception of size (on this forum) is so different LOL. Best to try all 3 sizes and see which one you like most.

I used to think of sizing in terms of wrist diameter too, but these days im more convinced of watch size in proportion to height/body size.
I know people who are buff and work out with really tiny wrists - 6.2-6.5 inchers (since its the one body part where you cannot increase size via lifting), carry 47-50mm watches fine. I have also seen a coworker that was thin with big wrists look clownish with a breitling 45mm on him. Best is to take a full length picture with the watch and evaluate from there - not a wrist shot. |

I had a similar thought about the size, as most of my watches are between 39 and 42mm. But after trying on the 47mm Luminor, I realized it wears perfectly at that size and does not look large on my small wrist. The advice of visiting an AD/PAM Boutique is sound! Good luck with your selection!

I think the better question if you could try one is, does the 42mm look small/perfect on you?
Although Panerai has been known for their large watches, I think it still depends on your overall build how it fits. |
