Pen Collections - Do you insure yours?

For those that have large collections of precious writing instruments, do you insure them? What type of insurance do you use to protect them?

No. I do not, but I should.

This would mean getting an appraisal and that may be difficult.

Neither do I. Not a large collection, but keep them in a 1/2 ton home safe.

There are some practical difficulties:
1. who can evaluate and give a sort of correct apprasial of my pen collection?
2. does the "box and papers" count towards the evaluation? as the box/papers always add at least a couple hundred bucks to each pen (most of mine are limited editions - the box/papers for regular edition isn't worth that much).

Currently I just itemise my pens with serial numbers (take photos) and give the insurance company my evaluation or the price I paid for them, they are under my home content insurance.

Nah... to much hassle to get them value then insure

Just keep my pens and watches next to my Russian Made AK-47

That will scare them away
