Milgauss GV & GMTIIc SS
Hi all,
I've almost made my mind up on which to buy but before I do I'm very interested on everyone's opinions on the Milgauss GV and the GMTIIc S...  or  Please post your comments on both watches, what you prefer between the two, post any pics you have, any info on the history of both watches and also if you have any side comparrisons/reviews. I know there are many great posts about both watches on this forum but i'd really love to see some new comments and pictures side by side. I hope you can help me choose between these two great watches. Many thanks, Jon

I personally haven't seen yet the GMTIIc, but I both have the Milgauss GV and the retro GMTII with the Coke bezel. I would say the GMTII is more of a everyday watch and it blends well with whatever occasion. With the GV, I find it more dressy...

I think the GMT II C has more features than a Milgauss does...

When I saw the Milgauss, I thought it was a good looking watch. However, when I tried on the GMTIIc SS I fell in love!!
I think it is a classic and more versatile. Good luck with your choice. |

Hmmmn...I'd go millie....GV...just a different Rolex..great look..and it's different. GMT2c..same same ultimately

Hi 2jabs and welcome,
Do you already own a Rolex??? The styles of your 2 choices are so different!!!! The GMT is closer to Submariner,Sea Dweller,Explorer II The Milgauss is kind of out on its own....but maybe closer to Explorer I and Air King. Do you want iconic Rolex that everyone recognises as a Rolex??....get the GMT Do you want something people may not recognise is a Rolex?.....get the Milgauss. I am sure you know about the functions of each watch....GMT, 2time zones,date function etc. Milgauss has no complication,but is resistant to magnetism. As advised in the above posts....trying them on and feeling them on your wrist normally settles the matter for sure!!!! Good Luck!!! |

It's just a shame that the Explorer 1 is a little too small for my wrist as this would be my ultimate watch. So far the GMT is my front runner, but yes I love the design of the Milgauss and it's just stopping me from makign my final decision! and of course BW2010 is just round the corner which doesn't help!!!!!!!!

If it's your first Rolex, get the GMT. Get the Milgauss later.

the main difference between two is one is sports looking and other one is simple dress watch.
They both are similar case size while 116400V has no date 3 hand function. I like both..

Depend what your everyday out fit.
Both are good but I find Milgauss GV is more unique. I vote for Milgauss

Both are nice...if you don't have a sports watch get the GMT2c (TT or SS) first then buy the GV or any Millgauss later.

I am just not impressed with the Milgauss at all..nothing about that model appeals to me for some reason. IMO, it is the odd duck of the Rolex family.

I just got my Non GV black dial milguass, for me it is the perfect watch and has a special history in the rolex line up.
I love it's simple uncomplicated looks and I think the second hand just gives it a bit of a zing. The size is spot on and the comfort supurbe. I really can't see me owning another watch (Unless it is all gold!) as this one does everything I want it to do..Tell the time! I do not need a date function and a GMT function is all but usless for me in everyday life.Might be different if I travelled a great deal but if not then I really don't see much point in another hand cluttering up the dial! I have had many watches with functions I thought were cool only to realize I never ever use them! Simplify is the way to go, Oh yes and having had three mechanical watches get magnetized by self serve checkouts at librarys in the past year the antimagnetic feature is one of the most useful features I could wish for next to telling the time! I am not a fan of the green crystal Milgauss. Were I you I would go for...
either the plain black dial on the Milgauss, or get the GMTIIc.

A few months ago I faced the same dilemma...
I was set on the black dial Milgauss (non-GV) and I went to my AD ready to buy it, when I got there I saw the GMTIIc and tried that one on just to get a feel of it. I was sold right then and there, and bought it on the spot:  I still want the Milgauss and I intend to get it in the future, but when I had to decide I couldn't leave the GMTIIc. Have you tried them on? Which one sings to you? Are you looking for a sport watch? Get the GMTIIc (the Milgauss works better as a dress watch in my view) Don't sweat it too much, you will end up buying one today and the other one in the near future, it's just a matter of deciding which one you want first.

My vote is for the GMTIIc SS
- much more versatile as you can dress it up or dress it down. I have the Milgauss GV and love it - "bullet proof" to quote a new found friend, but I would not recommend it as a first choice for your first Rolex. ENJOY!

GMTII-C all the way. I at least need a date on my watch. Everytime I wear my Daytona I miss having a date. I also travel over time zones for work so the GMT function comes in handy too
