GMT Pepsi or Explorer II

Whats up everybody. I'm brand new here and would like some feedback on this. I currently own the GMT Master II, The last production Pepsi model. It has sticks instead of a roman numeral which I believe is because of the new movement. Anyways while I love that watch I have fallen in love with the new Explorer II with the white face. It is definitely more my style as I spend a lot of time outdoors, I don't have to worry about the bezel fading. I can trade in my Pepsi and a little $ for the Explorer II but as of right now thats the only one of my watches I'm really willing to play with. I can wait and get that watch down the line but I love it and can't wait, I'm sure you know the feeling.. So anyways which one do you all like? Is it worth it?

Neither watch is rare or hard to find in nice condition so you can easily trade back and forth till you are satisfied.

They are both nice and I would hold on to the GMT II and buy the Explorer, if you like it.

I like the white dial Exp II. A big BUT though is that I dont like the black coated hands and markers!!! I believe this should always be gold or silver in colour as per long standing Rolex tradition, black just looks weird - to me at least. This would be enough for me to choose the black dial over the white one.

I love the Explorer II. The hands fit the watch.

I think you should hold on to the Z-series, they are pretty hard to get at the right price.

I would go with plan-b of wait and pick it up down the line. It will be something to work towards, and be that much sweeter when the day comes to have both in your collection. They are, imo, both excellent examples out of the Rolex lineup, and have places within the heritage that I personally couldn't trade one for the other.

I completely agree. The black paint eventually begins to chip off of the hands and looks really bad.

White gold hands would have sealed the deal for me.

Is this a proven problem?? This is the first I am hearing that the black paint comes off the hands. Are there pictures out there to support this?

not likely in modern production....

perhaps the pre ~80's when dial and bezel problems were also known to occur.

fyi the hands are gold underneath the black.
