Are the 3186 16710s realy going for 23k?

Is this a typo or am I missing something here?

It's not for me and I collect GMTs. Paying that much premium for a movement, which isn't as stout as the one it replaced, is ludicrous. Anyone could buy two very nice GMT IIs for what some are asking, and others have paid, for the 16710 with the 3186 movement.

1999 GMT 16710 for everyone's pleasure.

But I googled the same watch and they seem to be going for 10-12k. Trying to understand why this one is 23.

Going rate for a 16710 with 3185 movement is closer to $10k which is more reasonable. The 3186 movement is not two times better.

The 3186 movement may not be two times better, but it is certainly 2 times more rare than a 16710 fitted with the 3185 movement.

The 16710 fitted with the 3185 movement was manufactured from 1989-mid 2007.

The 16710 fitted with the 3186 movement was manufactured from late 2007 (late Z-series and the M-series), and soon after was discontinued. Anything rare and Rolex in the same sentence demands more value to collectors.

In addition to the 3186 movement from the latter Z and M serials it has the stick dial or "error" dial as some call it. Rare and prized by collectors, young Padawan.

Plus its in excellent condition, adding to the pricing. DavidSW only deals in "excellent condition". He doesn't use the word mint or near mint. But when David says excellent that means NEAR MINT. Gawd that is a beautiful 16710.

Oh got it now. Thanks for the explanation. Didn’t realize it was because of the 3186.
