Independent vintage Rolex appraisals?

Hi All,
Maybe a foolish question but are there any independent appraisal services for vintage watches? ...and I don't mean dealers... like some place you could send your watch or pictures of your watch and you pay a fee and they would check originality of dial, hands, bezel, case, movement, bracelet etc... and write up a report. Like it is available for other collectible items such as paintings, furniture, medals etc.
I know we can use the forum but then you always get different opinions.
It would be nice to have recognized and accepted independent aporaisal.
Would be helpful for buyers and sellers...
Does this exists already?
Or could we ask trusted Rolex experts to create such services?
Thanks,
Bjoern

I am pretty sure trusted dealers connected to this forum have this service but I think you will need to send them your watch...don’t think they will do an appraisal based on pics alone...

My insurance company asked me to use a well known auction house here where I live. They inspect everything and I pay a fixed fee plus a percentage of the appraisal value. Oh, and it is wise to renew the valuation now and then, renewals are a fixed fee.

Great idea from the OP. I'm not aware of any evaluation service like this. I guess the guys who know enough to provide it can make more money actually buying and selling watches, so they don't focus on evaluation services. And they'd be seriously putting their reputations on the line for only marginal gains.

I wouldn't use an auction house for confirmation of authenticity based on what I've seen them try to sell as genuine. They're jacks of all trades, masters of none. Although I appreciate you need to do it if your insurance company requires it.

Vintage Rolex unfortunately remains a wilderness.

I wouldn't use just any auction house, this one actually has a couple of guys that know their stuff. They also know when they don't know something, the most important part.
