Platinum in ceramic bezel flake off?
I looked at my Daytona this morning, and the 60 in the bezel looked odd. I can't tell if there is dirt in the numbers or that the platinum flaked off. Depending upon how the light hits it, it looks like the platinum is all there. If I look at it straight on, it looks like something is in there/or missing.
2 questions- * Any ideas on how to clean it (if it is dirt)? * If it is platinum missing or something like that, is this something that will get fixed when I send it off for servicing in a few years? Not really a big deal, just a good head scratcher. |

Only way to tell if it’s dirt is to take a soft toothbrush with soap and give it a good clean. It’s probably just dirt.

Have seen other posts like this and it was dirt. Solved by toothbrush, soap and water. Hope that’s the case for yours! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Possible its just dirt give a good clean in soap and water, but the Platinum coating is just like a PVD coating microns thick.

I have a couple Rolex w/ ceramic bezel (BLNR / SubC / DaytonaC) and none have any of the numbers coming off. For reference I know it's a thin layer, but I've been wearing my BLNR and SubC while still in the military and have yet to see any fade or missing coating in the numbers. Can happen but these are pretty solid pieces and can take what you can throw at them.
