Sub if you don't already have a daily-wearer, but GMT BLNR if you do!

You are not comparing like with like and the comparison should be between say the GMT and the Sub date, or The Sub and another without a date like an Explorer or the Milgauss and for that reason 'I'm Oooot'

116710 has an ugly bezel. 114060 for me.

I like the PCL's. Helps make the watch pop.

Both are great. Kind of like the non date sub better than sub date.
however, I prefer the slightly slimmer case of 116710 and the GMT and date functions

Thanks everyone for the awesome feedback. I think I'm going sub purely because I love the history of 6538, 5510, 5512, 5513, 5517, 5513/7, 14060 and such haha. I do love me some gmt action but I already have a 1675 gilt Pepsi which to me is the ultimate gmt until rolex makes a ceramic Pepsi (which may never happen). I don't like pcl's on the gmt unless they did it in white gold or platinum (which also may never happen). Thanks! I will get this now and continue saving for the smurf. Though I feel after getting this I may not get the smurf and get a 5517 instead...but that's another thread. |

another vote for sub.
we are similar in this regard: love the history of the sub. it was since the days of early internet(on slow dialup modem) reading upon articles and articles of it. it is just wonderful. but those vintage pieces are unobtainable for me, settled for the modern one and couldn't be happier. maxi dial nod to the past 5512/5513, ceramic bezel, supercase(which makes it different from others in the collection), very clean symmetrical face. and yes afterwards, i'd go with 5517 instead of smurf if i were you. hope you will find the 114060 satisfiying as i find it served me. cheers! |

Like them both, but 114060 for me just a clean looking watch.

It is flatter. Oddly enough for me it pulled my arm hair constantly. Hairs would actually get stuck in the case back crack enough to have to be plucked with tweezers! Weird. My sub hasn't pulled the first hair because it sits up off of my wrist more.

You make a good point, these two watches have some major distinctions. However, while I own the predecessor 14060, love the clean lines and simplicity of the ND dial, the Black and Blue GMT is an absolute gem. I'd get one.
