Iced Crystal - Show Yours
I had this watch a few weeks before i noticed the "Iced" look of the crystal.
How Common is an "iced" crystal? Cant say its overly prominent but when the sun hits it just right there is an added level of joy to wearing this watch. show em if ya got em

Most likely its faint scratches that reflect the light at a certain angle. Not sure ive ever heard the term "iced" for something other than diamonds

Similar 'cracks' developed in the crystal of my Rolex which I had bought new in 1969, after 15 years of daily use in a hot tropical climate. A new crystal was fitted when the watch was serviced.

Damaged dials are "tropical" or "spider". Cracked crystals are now "iced"?

It's called crazing, old plastic does this over time. Costs extra if you're buying an old rolex...
btw... I've had nos crystals that did this after 6 months exposure to the elements, it's why I sometimes prefer a generic new crystal. |

Yeah acrylic crazing - IMHO, not worth naming it anything else than crazed.

My fault, reading through https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=353899 it seemed like "ice" "iced" was the correct term.
Not a huge fan of the term or diamonds in general, happy to call it "crazing"! The post seems to indicate the "crazing" is from the radium dust? |

crazing is not desirable...it means it should be replaced. And its not limited to radium dials, its just what happens over time as the "crystal" is not really crystal or glass and it is under pressure and takes a lot of abuse.
