Has to be the strangest Rolex Rivet Oyster we’ve seen
Has anyone come across this before? Naturally knock off was our first impression but after closer inspection everything looks to be genuine Rolex components in original condition. The clasp cover is the only real standout. However as a full assembly we’ve never seen a divers extension on a rivet band.

It looks like what I’ve seen described as prototype fliplock clasp.

It's actually part of a collection of parts our client is considering selling. I will let them know what they have. Very very cool to have these type of things come through. It's a great learning opportunity for us.

The thought of the crown placement may be "in the box"!

They pop up very rarely. I remember seeing one in an eBay auction and passing on it (D’oh!!).
I think it was made for the earliest 1665? There are a few discussions here on the forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Uncommon but known example. 1968 or 1969 IIRC.

Good picture. I know I’ve seen pictures of Jacques Cousteau’s son wearing an early Sea Dweller with this clasp... |

I think these sell for great sums as they are the correct band for the first run of sea dwellers. It would make a great pat pending sea dweller complete. Am I incorrect ?

Actually found someone with one of the prototype single red sea dwellers. 1 of 10 known to exist. No interest in the bracelet. The bracelet is 1969 and the watch is also engraved 1969 and missing its original prototype oyster bracelet. Really caught me off guard. All work done in the good ol’ U.S. of A. |

Very cool. i had an opportunity to get one of these a few months ago but the springbar holes in the clasp were trashed. Is this guy interested in selling it?
