Memphis AD who can pressure test?

I’m in Memphis for 5 days and wanted to see if you guys knew if any of the ADs who can pressure test a Daytona in-house (or at least the same day).

Sissys probably can. They’re on Poplar.

Bob Richards in Germantown on Germantown Rd. Bought my BLNR from them. Very helpful.

That’s who I am planning on going to first. Do you know if the can pressure test in-house? I have a few things to do before the wedding and I’m hoping I can confirm my watch is good to go before going on the honeymoon. Don’t want to have to worry about taking the watch off when going to the pool or ocean aboard.

I happened to be next to Sissy’s and they helped out. The watched checked out as pass. So I assume I don’t have anything to worry about if I go into the pool or ocean with the Daytona (with the screws locked down)?

If your watch was serviced in the last 7-10 years just swim with it, it'll be fine.

If it wasn't, don't, and have it serviced.

It isn't complicated.

Well... previous advice was to get it tested and if passes I’m good to go. Is that not the case? The watch is a 2006. Not sure if it has been serviced. It was new old stock until 2 weeks ago.

It it was NOS from 2006 it definitely needs a service and fresh seals.

No competent Watchmaker is going to perform a proper pressure test on a 13 year old Daytona.

I’m so confused... what do you mean? The watch was pressure tested. It passed. Did I just throw away $30?

What do you mean by “competent watchmaker”?

Why have you started the thread if it has already passed a pressure test???

95% of watches that are 13 years old will probably pass a pressure test but some won't. No watchmaker worth their salt would properly pressure test a watch of this age through fear of it potentially leaking,

When I started the thread I had not had it tested.

Today, after having it tested I followed up to confirm I am good to go after it passed the test at an AD in Memphis.

My key question still remains open: given that the watch passed the pressure test, should I be good to go swimming and going into the ocean with it?

I’ll be in Memphis this weekend. Anything interesting either new or preowned in the case?

Negative - there were two Daytona’s that weren’t eye catching. One had diamonds but wasn’t my style.

Rubbish, why wouldn't they ? A test cannot damage anything and takes only 5 minutes. I do it myself after having bought a Bergeon tester but any watchmaker has one or similar.

Rolex seals don't dry out that easy, if you don't touch them meaning opening and closing up the case nothing will happen.
Have one Rolex from 1996, never serviced, passes each and every time.

Actually not one of my 8 Rolex watches have ever failed a test and most of them are way past their service interval.

Service when it stops working, anything else is a waste of money

I respectfully disagree about a test not damaging a watch. If a watch fails in the Rolex Fathometer (Roxer Natator) the result can be catastrophic in watch terms. A chipped sapphire can fail under pressure and the result is like shrapnel on the case. If you are next to the machine you can hear it when it explodes and it sounds like a bullet through water.

I think this is what was being alluded to by the poster that said no watchmaker worth their salt would do a ‘proper test’ on a 16 year old watch.

Thanks for the explanation - helpful.

I tested the watch because I have a warranty from the reseller that my fiance bought the watch from. If it failed, it would have been covered.
