Does an RSC usually have inventory of an 18K yellow gold case back (for 36mm DJ) and approximately what is the MSRP for that case back? Thanks.

I did find one 2019 post here at TRF in which a participant wrote that RSC NY charged (approximately) $1,375 for a yellow gold Day Date caseback.
This was apparently the "net price" , because the RSC did not return the original caseback.

Does $1,300 to $1,500 for a (new from RSC) yellow gold caseback sound about right ?

for the caseback itself figure closer to 1,500 with tax - but don’t forget to factor the cost of a RSC service into the equation. They might tell you it’s necessary.

An AD with a watchmaker might just do the swap with some labor costs.

Thanks for the information. I am considering to purchase a new old stock gold Rolex that has an engraved caseback. So, my options would be to keep on the caseback the former watch owners initials, try to buff/polish away the engraved initials, or replace the caseback.

For that you might also consider a jeweler doing an overlapping engraving to obscure those initials.

For a modern dj 36, 116208 it is €1730 including tax.

My AD has an independent engraver and he does amazing work. Before I spent the money for a new case back I would see what could be done with a new engraving. I would think a quality job could be done in the $300-500 range and move on with my engraving on the back. Just a thought.

Trade price, if you don't send in an old case back then the price will be 30% higher.
