389 fits you well,683 looks a bit small on mirror shot,a Panerai is supposed to look big on the wrist

After seeing these shots, I'm now in the camp that would pull the trigger on the 47mm. They are both very workable IMO, but at their worst, the 47mm might be a tad on the large size, whereas the 42mm is a bit on the small side. Both look fine to me, but with more of the submersible DNA apparent in the 47mm i'd definitely go with that if I were you and if it were between the 2.
Enjoy! |

Both look good, but I say try the 47mm. If you needed to flip or trade, you'll get better value for the 1389 for sure.
Truthfully, I think you're leaning to the 47mm, so go with your gut, you'll love it! Panerai are big watches, but that's why people like them so rock it and enjoy the size. |

The 47 mm watch works well for you and the new pictures should confirm that. I would push for a better discount than 10% but that may not be possible. Look on Chrono24 for some pricing on both new and pre-owned and see where you should be. Pickup the phone and call a few of these sellers and see what you can do. It has worked for me in the past and I typically save enough money for the trouble. Keep us posted.

You had just the same experience as me and as I described above.
When compared directly the 42 just looks off and like a kids watch. “Baby-Panerai”. I asked the sales assistant if they primarily sold the 42mm Sub to women and she said that the last two Subs she sold to women actually had been 47mm. You are making the right choice. I pulled the trigger on a new 1389 too and I’m also waiting for my dealer to get it in September. Already ordered the green, blue and orange rubber straps. |

The AD here could “only” do 7% and a strap. Actually kind of fair.
I know another guy, but in Germany, that just bought his 1389 with 7,5% off. I ended up going through a grey market dealer I’ve dealt with before. |

They had to get me the new dial as the one I tried was the older dial. I was going on holiday for a few weeks so will go back in September hopefully manage to negotiate a discount of some sort and a few straps thrown in for the 1389 47mm

iI think the op decided already, this was summer of last year.
Couple of these comparison came up before. I decide I like the look of traditional dot hour markers versus the sticks on the 1389. It seems more in line with what a Submersible dial should be. But I prefer the 1305 |

Actually have not pulled the trigger on it yet. The 1389 I tried on was the older dial so waited for the AD to get the new dial in. I tried it on again two weeks ago as for some reason they found it hard to get one in. I love 1389 but am also waiting for a call for the new Rolex BLNR. Ultimately funds only allow to buy one at a time. Am deciding now if it is better to wait for the hard to get Rolex and then add the 1389 after. I told the dealer that I want both but it has to be Rolex first so am now waiting.
Th AD also only offered a 3% discount on the Panerai when in the grey market I have seen the 1389 new for around £2k+ cheaper. |

PAM 683 on your wrist !
All day, every day ! 47mm looks weird IMHO, but once again, it is all about taste, feeling...and emotions ! |

Out of the 683 and the 1389 I like the size of the 47mm 1389 much more. The 683 felt too small. If you see it on just a wrist shot it looks fine and the 47mm looks massive but when you see it as a full body shot the 47mm is big but looks better then the small 42mm.

My thoughts exactly. i like ceramic bezel Submersible but but not at 47mm. As i have a plethora of straps for my 44mm Luminors GMT, a sub at 44mm would be a welcome.

The 42mm looks more appropriate and IMHO looks better. However, if you want that oversized watch look which is more in line with Panerai go 47mm.

Of the two go for the 47mm. You can pull it off.
