Patek or day date

Thank to everyone who posted on my Everose Day Date vs Everose Daytona post

I decided on the Day Date.

Then I saw a Patek 5205 at my local dealer.

This is for my 50th. I want a gold piece.

So all. What are your thoughts between these two? I don’t have a Patek in my collection.

Help me decide.

I think Patek as the pinnacle of high horology. That beautiful case and dial as well as being an annual calendar. Patek for sure.

PP makes some nice watches. To me that is not the best. In this case I would take the DD.

Both are nice watches. I have a DD and PP (not that model, however). Not super impressed with PP as a brand in general. They are just ok. More hype than anything. My leather strap on my PP looks like crap after only 6-8 months of wear. I would suggest going with the DD40.

The DD is just more of a landmark, impressive watch.

Yeah...don't buy into all of that PP "high horology" elite crap. That case will scratch SUPER easy, the strap will look like crap around the buckle in under a year, and it will take 6-months to have the watch serviced up in NYC.

Rolex Rolex Rolex. Skip the PP idiot-tax.

Time to hit the trainer....gotta run.

I don’t like PP in general. Take the Day Date.

Hehehe.
How can you go wrong with any of these.......they are both gorgeous.
I think it comes down to lifestyle, personal preference....imo.

That DD is a lot more out there than the Patek you are considering. Having said that I would only consider that Patek if I would wear a shirt/suit on a daily basis.

The wis in me would choose the Patek....but, again, the DD is a more robust watch.
We are talking oyster case and gold bracelet vs leather strap and only 30m water resistance. So, it comes down to lifestyle and preference.

Personally, I'd pick the Patek, superb watch, checks every single watch box there is in my opinion - beautiful looking reference and so unique.

Agree with the above. I think the DD is a more versatile, every day watch that can dress up or down.

The 5205 is a brilliant watch, and it is so beautiful.

Both are great. But in this situation, I think you'll be happiest going with the Day Date.
With a full gold case and bracelet, it will feel very substantial on the wrist and money well spent. And you basically already chose. You said you want a gold piece... nothing says gold piece more than a Rolex president. Also you're 50... let's be real, this won't be your last watch. You don't have a Patek yet? You have plenty of time to get one.
So this way in the near future you'll have your Rolex DD AND your Patek 5070

I know you already chose the DD over the daytona and I hate to make you second guess but I think the daytona is the way.

Between the DD and the 5205, the 5205 all day. Between the 5205 and the daytona I'd take the daytona.

PP is a dress watch , but I'd still chose it over DD

2 great watches.

If only watch = rolex.

If you already have a sports watch then a Patek.
