Too much amplitude
Anyone ever heard of too much amplitude?
Took my 2019 sub date in because it was running fast and first thought was magnetic, but they said it was too efficient and too much amplitude. Might need a barrel replacement or movement. They are a respected dealer and it’s under warranty. But have never heard of such.

First time hearing that. Assume they have a timegrapher machine and the amplitude reading comes from it; does the dealer is using the correct beat rate on it? Incorrect setup in the machine may lead to incorrect amplitude readings. Perhaps Bas @SearChart may share his wisdom here? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

It happens, not common on Rolex as their strategy is a general lower amplitude to extend service intervals.
But I've seen it happen, this week actually. Serviced a DJ2, with 3136, ran 300 degrees (dial up, fully wound) just after servicing. Ran about 325 degrees a day later. Decided to put in a weak mainspring and now it's running at 285 ish. |

I would say they did it correctly. I’ve been a customer for 20 years and their watchmaker is Rolex trained / certified (or whatever they are called). I know this doesn’t guarantee anything but I feel they were correct in their assessment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
