Will the watch be covered if does not meet the COSC?
The watch itself is still under the 5 years warranty period.
RSC checked and the watch did not meet the COSC. In this case, will the watch be covered under the ROLEX 5 years warranty? |

So you have a non-certified Rolex? Or is your watch not keeping time and you want it fixed under warranty?

The watch is not keeping the time and I want to fix it under warranty.
Just wondering will it be covered so that I do not need to pay for the fixing? |

You can ask to have the watch regulated. Whether it needs "fixing" would likely need to be determined by a service and examining the movement.

Well all the Swiss COSC standard is that the bare uncased movement was tested over a period of 15 days and 5 different temperatures. After testing the movement passed the AVERAGE -4+6 daily test to get the chronometer status at time of testing only. You say RSC checked your watch and it did not meet the standard if this true then they would regulate it as part of warranty.Although regulation is quite a simple task, if done by RSC average time is a around 4 weeks turnaround. What was the findings of the RSC test how much over the COSC are we talking about more than 6 seconds as your post have not got a great deal of information to give a true answer.Gravity affects mechanical watches the most thats why they are tested in 5 different positions. And in those different positions there will be slight deviations in the timekeeping. And given the fact that the movement is constantly ,mainspring-power reserve, metal expansion and contraction, temperature variations, subtle changes in lubrication and friction, shocks, and so on.

And they will regulate it, return it, and you can get those few inaccurate seconds removed.
When you get it back, please go it to see if new gouges exist on the underside of the lugs, or scratches on the caseback or bracelet. That is the potential hidden cost of a free regulation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I have recently bought two pre loved Rolexes and have checked their accuracy over a number of days. I also checked my 19 year old Bond Omega Seamaster (full service in 2016). The results were:
2019 114060 - 2 seconds per day 2015 216570 + 5 seconds per day 2001 Bond Omega Seamaster +0.2 seconds per day! I can understand why people would want to hold Rolex to COSC, but I’m rotating these watches on my wrist so time setting comes well before they are inaccurate. I won’t be taking either Rolex back to get those few seconds back. Different strokes for different folks. |

I’m pretty sure he doesn’t know any of that. I’d also like to know why it was at the RSC in the first place, what kind of Rolex, etc. If he sent it in because it wasn’t keeping good time, why did he need the RSC to tell him it didn’t meet COSC (that’s how he phrased it). Really not enough information provided by the OP.

[QUOTE=johnjm;10748786]Yes. I have a watch at RSC for the third time on a month. It was out of spec out the box, and after two trips to be regulated.
I told them I don't want it back if it can't be done properly... Let's see. I used to be like this, concerned by minor variations in an inherently imprecise design (any mechanical watch). I solved the ‘problem’ by never timing my Rolex. It’s more than good enough. |

And, the warranty is an embedded cost. You paid for it. It’s in the price of admission. In the world Rolex made for itself, I’d drive them nuts with warranty claims. So, have at it. |

If it's outside the +2/-2 secs per day, then warranty will cover a regulation. I had my 216570 done under warranty.

Personally, Im not.concerned by a few seconds, but it must come back from Rolex within spec. Of it's out of spec it tells me they did a pi$$ poor job. Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk

But you state RSC checked and the watch did not meet the COSC so if it did not meet COSC they must have told you.?????????

Sorry for all the confusion here. Yes, the lady who worked in the RSC brought the watch to the technician. I do not know what they did to the watch and after 10 to 15 minutes she came back to me and told me that the watch did not meet the COSC. |
