Datejust 41 vs Submariner ND

Hello All,

For those of your who have handled both of these watches. Which one "feels" more premium? I know that the Submariner is considered more of a classic. However I was handling a DJ 41 with a fluted bezel the other day and could not help but feel how well made it was. Not to say the Submariner feels cheaper, however something about that white gold bezel and jubilee bracelet made it feels really nice.

Has anyone else felt the same way?

I've had both and currently have the sub. The dj 41 is definitely a nice (I had the blue dial w/ fluted bezel). I just found myself not wearing it much as I liked the "feel" of the sub a little better. To me, I did not feel one was more premium than the other. I would say, you can't go wrong with either so go with your gut.

I literally just traded my DJ41 for the Submariner. They’re both great watches and both feel equally substantial. I think it all comes down to how you’ll wear it. The DJ41 with the polished center links was awesome and somewhat dressy although I think it could also be dressed down a bit. The Submariner is pure simplicity and can be worn for pretty much all occasions. Can’t go wrong with either!

Hard question. I have both and think they are both awesome in their own different ways but wouldn’t really say one feels more premium than the other. I think as an only Rolex I would lean towards DJ fluted/jubilee.

Good person to ask because I have these exact same two! Had many watches until I came to these two. Love them both. 114060 is my daily and my datejust when I go business casual to dress. While the datejust is slightly more comfortable to wear, the 114060 feels more solid on my wrist, more solid watch overall. If I had to pick one, I guess the sub, but would miss the flare and the best dial I have ever seen with the blue! Two GREAT watches, in my opinion the 2 best in the entire Rolex lineup. To answer your question the sub feels slightly more premium to me.

Exactly! In full disclosure i am on the waiting list for the Daytona C white dial. Not that I feel I need another, but really love it, adds a crono, polished center oyster, and a white dial to add to my 2.

Sub first, DJ later.

Both are nice. It’s AND not OR sometimes.

Both rock solid. DJ more elegant and Sub is more versatile IMO. I find myself reaching for the sub 90% of the time.

I have both and give the edge to the Sub. It was a must have for me. If I had to go DJ41 only it would be the smooth/oyster which I have but I'd opt for the black dial as it's my idea of a gada piece.

They are 2 totally different animals. It comes down to what you prefer more.

2 must have pieces. Equally unique and beautiful in their own right. Flip a coin and enjoy.

When it comes to premium feel the DJ is the answer.
It’s way more jewelry like due to polished center links and fluted bezel.
I originally wanted a DJ 41 blue dial / fluted bezel / sticks, but the size didn’t convinced me. However, the watch is mesmerizing to look at. Love it.

You need both, perfect 2 watch collection. Both feel good on the wrist, make sure to only get fluted jubilee on the DJ41, and don't get the black dial.

Agree with this. I had black dials on both and got bored, so traded in for blue.

The Datejust will feel more glitzy, more blingy, more dressy. The Sub is more of a workhorse. You really need at least one dress and one sport watch in any collection. I went with a DJII and and SD43, so kind of larger versions of both watches you mentioned.

This^. Well stated. I have the same two watches, black dial on the DJ41, great combination by the way. If I had to choose between the two, it wold be the Sub.
