I like this Zenith line of pilot watches, my favourite being the GMT version.
For some reason I'm not so keen on this centre-seconds 'Extra Special' model. I believe it uses a Sellita-based movement (badged as a 'Zenith 3000'), which caused a bit of a stir among Zenith fans.

Inside the Zenith Pilot type 20 Extra Special Bronze is an in-house made Zenith Elite caliber 679 automatic movement which the collection had served in the first place. Available later in 2015, the Zenith Pilot Type 20 Extra Special Bronze will be priced at $7,600. What I find funny about this is that they charge more for Bronze over Steel.

Some/many Zenith fans were upset at them using the Sellita movement, so this will be welcome news I expect. I think that ABlogToWatch had meant to write "...that the collection had deserved in the first place", and not "...had served in the first place"!

I understand the appeal of a bronze diver (patina from the sea), but not a pilot's watch.... Don't see much patina forming while in the cockpit. ;-)

It's available already
Thanks everyone.
It has been out for about two weeks. I tried yesterday on the AD. Not like panerai, you can actually get decent discount on it. |

If you like it and can get a decent discount then go for it... could be fun to play around with different straps & buckles too

I actually don't like The way to change the strap on this watch - it is spring bar, and they cut out a little piece on the strap to make room for removal tool. I do have a lot of 24mm straps, but I don't see myself to cut small piece out on the strap which I want to put on this watch.

How my TRF paneristi friends feel about this one?
Quote:
They patina just from being exposed. Mine are both about 2 months old and are starting to patina nicely. (The SS is a friend of mine's watch) They started out almost a blinding shade of bronze. Though not Zenith. The diver more so than the pilot as it sees the pool and the shower and about everything else. OP, I love the Zenith. I would have trouble not picking it up. For a pilot, I would personally go IWC.

I like it, but not a fan of bronze, or brass watches. 45mm is a good size though.
