Etched Crown logo on new 41 Sub, maybe more
I don't know if this has been discussed before, if so sorry about bringing it up again. I like to look watches over with at least a 10 power loupe and especially like to find the etched crown logo under the crystal at the 6:00 on my Rolex's, I found an article about how to "read" the etched logo that was very interesting. Now the question, has anyone noticed a difference with the new Sub 41 and perhaps other new Rolex's concerning the etched Crown Logo? What I noticed was the bottom of the crown is now filled in with etched dots...before it was two circles with an opening like a real crown would have to set it on your head, and that open area, surrounded by 2 circles, would have a line of dots in it if it was a replacement but now it is filled in with lots of dots. Can anyone else confirm this from their observations?

Two circles = non reflective coating under the crystal.
Two circles with a centre line = non reflective coating above and under the crystal.

I take my pictures with a dLSR Camera in jpeg and they can't be posted without being converted to a URL or http...? am I correct? Don't know for sure. However I am having difficulty posting a picture, any help would be appriciated.

So Rolex is now putting anti reflective coating beneath the entire crystal, and not just the cyclops? Since when?

I want to stay on topic here- but the etching is put in with some amazing laser drill depth - each hole is a different depth in the sapphire. No clue that Rolex was this clever. Still...it's only a matter of time before laser coronets are also produced on the black market.

Interesting I never realized the lec was done like this for this reason. Cool stuff. Thanks to those that shared the insight.

Recently acquired a loupe off Amazon and spent some time looking at my 2021 OP36 up close. I noticed that the crown had two circles rather than one and kind of freaked out. Practically all the photos I find online just have the one circle at the bottom of the crown without any filling. Found this thread after some searching and finally feel like I can rest easy.
This is a photo of the laser etched crown on my OP36, seems like IMGUR reduced the quality of the original photo.. I guess this thread confirms I have nothing to worry about. |
