Admiralty Grey G10 Strap
Ladies & Gents
I am looking particularly to buy an Admiralty Grey G10 Strap. To fit onto either of my vintage Rolex Subs. Could you please advise me were I may be able to get one? I already have several superb NATO straps, but in this case I am looking for this particular one. The only company that appear to have them, allegedly in the correct colour is Corvus, who ironically get them from Phoenix Straps in Cardiff, Wales UK!! Thanks for any help that you can provide. By the way here is a couple of photos showing the "Movie James Bond Strap" which I purchased from Corvus. Regards Tony

Have a look at Eddie Platts at timefactors his nato straps are equal quality to some that charge 5 times as much and thats not the Nato worn in the bond film.http://www.timefactors.com/nato.htm

Thanks Peter
And I agree with you. I bought two from him (Grey & Black) a few weeks ago. The quality is excellent and so is the price. I love wearing the grey, but it is quite a light grey with a touch of silver in it. This time round I am hoping to get a more darker grey and as I understand it the Admiralty Grey was the original colour that was first issued to the military. Regards Tony

They are expensive for what they are (ie a piece of nylon) but Rolex UK will supply Admiralty NATOs on required to an AD.
If you want the "real" thing phone your nearest AD and order one. I think they are about £40.

...hence the quotation marks around the word real.
I was just letting him know that Rolex will supply a nylon strap in the correct colour direct. The cost/value/originality I leave up to Tony to way up.

They are made by Phoenix Straps in Wales . Corvus are a distributor.
Very good quality NATO straps and issued by the RSC in London for MilSubs etc. I have several in different sizes and they are excellent. Steve, it's standard dull grey colour. No stripes or patterns etc. BTW the EXPII looks great on the 22mm version. Next time we catch up I'll bring one along. Cheers Sent from my Droid.

Wow! Jocke, is that were the strap in the photos came from?
That will do nicely I did know that Rolex sold them, but was disillusioned to find that they were NO different to any other and at 5 times the price Though didn't realise that it was Corvus/Phoenix Straps who supplied them. Thanks guys for all your responses

I bought my Admiralty from Corvus. The color is astounding.
But some prefer the more "rugged" nylon used by other manufacturers. However, you can't beat the color of a Corvus.

I have to agree with you.
Peter,I have to disagree with you on this point. I got the info and link direct from Jake's Rolex Blog and I would have thought that he would not have endorsed it, if he believed it to be incorrect. The only thing that is not correct is that mine is the full 20mm and not the 18mm or possibly 16mm which was on the original JB strap. Regards Tony

Just placed an order for the grey with matt S/S rings from The Strap Store.
Ken who I spoke with was extremely helpful. Unlike Silvermans who were down right rude and charged even more than Corvus. I am also nearly 100% sure that I shall get the Admiralty Grey from Corvus. Thanks once again for your comments and links. Regards Tony PS the actual JB strap was 16mm as previously mentioned NOT 18mm as I stated. So apologise from me.

It's an awesome looking strap and fits my 1680 bang on. The quality is awesome and the support that I received from both Ken & Jack was truly first class and i would have NO hesitation in recommending them.

Realize this is an old post but I've been doing a little online research on this, as well as ordering, and I have learned that Corvus sells the straps that are made by Phoenix in Wales, as many of you already know. Mike from Phoenix sells some seconds on ebay, mickie 500 I believe is his user name. If you want new Phoenix straps buy from Corvus or sometimes someone on ebay in the UK, will sell them. The admiralty gray as its know, is quite a special color, and are made to MOD specs, supposedly he still makes them for a mil. contract. The weave on these straps are finer and look different to anything else I have seen in person.
Right now I am very much into the Regimentals and they are much harder to find if you are looking for ones not made in China. |
